Lawrence Brook Weekly Update
Learn about the exciting news and events happening at LB!
January 9, 2023
Dear Lawrence Brook Parents and Guardians,
On Friday, we launched our One School, One Book Program with an assembly announcing this year’s selection--Lola Levine is Not Mean by Monica Brown. The Cafetorium was filled with cheers and applause during the assembly as students were introduced to key characters and themes in the text.
After the assembly, each student received a book as well as a copy of our reading schedule and a letter from me explaining the program--please review these materials so that you and your family are able to participate in this exciting program starting TODAY, Monday, January 9. Students also met with their buddy classes to create a special bookmark to use as they read.
The reading schedule and teacher videos can be accessed directly by following this link to our 2023 One School, One Book Website. Directions for accessing the site can also be found in the packet sent home with your child Friday. Please send photos of your family reading the book and/or completing the fun, optional activities to lawrence_brook_eleme@ebnet.org so that we can include them on LBTV!
Thank you to the Lawrence Brook Elementary School PTA for supporting our students by funding the One School, One Book program this year. We hope you will join us for our special PTA Family Night Celebration on Friday, January 27! Our next PTA meeting will be this evening at 7:00 PM. All are welcome to attend either in person in the Media Center or virtually using the link below.
Thank you also to the East Brunswick Education Association for funding a grant to send home a few special items to help with our at-home activities (we will be sending these home in your child's backpack today).
The staff and I cannot wait for all the fun and learning that comes along with this program. Working together, we are creating a strong culture of reading at Lawrence Brook School!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Dunn
***Please note that all copies of the book will be collected during the first week of February so that they can be enjoyed in future years***
