BSD Family Updates

Dear BSD Families:
With the end of the school year rapidly approaching, we’ve got a few important updates to share with you!
Planning for Fall 2021
We are so pleased to confirm that the Bremerton School District is planning for the full-time reopening of our schools for fall 2021.
We have lots of work ahead of us as we develop plans that meet the guidelines outlined by the State for social distancing in all of our facilities. We are also finalizing what online options are going to be available for families who are not comfortable having their students return to school for in-person instruction.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Thank you to the 984 of you who responded to our ThoughtExchange, sharing 1071 thoughts and 24,802 rankings!
There were no big surprises in the survey, and it was very clear that many teachers/staff, parents and students agree that students need:
More personal connection with teachers and peers and less screen time.
A consistent schedule.
To be in school full-time for social, academic and mental health reasons.
Families also indicated that they want options for both full-time in-person and 100% online learning.
We are reviewing all of the thoughts shared with us as we plan for summer learning and fall 2021 and greatly appreciate your input! We invite you to learn more about our ThoughtExchange results here.
COVID Vaccine Clinic
Students age 12 years or older are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination. Peninsula Community Health Services is hosting two more vaccine clinics at Bremerton High School. Learn more or schedule an appointment here >>.
Friendly reminder: Masks are still required at school!
As you may have heard, last week the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced updated guidance regarding the wearing of masks for vaccinated individuals. Governor Inslee also held a press conference to provide updates on state reopening plans and the impact of CDC recommendations for our state.
The governor pointed out that regardless of vaccinated status for individuals, masks will continue to be required at schools and other designated facilities including any school events, such as graduations.
We all play an important role in keeping our schools safe. It is important that all students, staff, and visitors continue to follow safety protocols:
Wear a mask
Wash hands frequently
Maintain social distancing
Complete your daily health assessment before arriving at school (students/staff)
Complete the health assessment before entering a school facility (parents/visitors)
Summer Learning Opportunities
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing information about the different in-person and online summer learning options available for students.
