Halloween Parade
This year we will return to our Halloween tradition of an all school outdoor parade on Friday October 29 beginning at 9:30. Parents are welcome to attend, as this is an outdoor event. Please make sure your child(ren)'s costume does not include any weapons, blood or gory masks.
COVID 19 Safety Updates
A reminder that if your child stays home for new symptoms, rapid/home tests are acceptable. It is very helpful to us if you can include your child's name in the photo, written on a piece of paper next to the test strip. If your child stays home because they were determined to be a close contact, a PCR test is required. Thank you!
All the best,
Heather
PTO News
Message from the PTO President:
Next week is Dash week. It’s very exciting to be doing this again! Our first big fundraiser is going great, and I’m asking once again for your input. We raise this money to support our Dicken staff and students, and we are always open to suggestions on ways to accomplish that goal. What types of programs have you seen at other schools that you’d love to see brought to Dicken? What areas would you like to see us focus our support on? We’ve put a lot of money recently into social-emotional learning, equity, and outdoor learning. I think these are all extremely important and would love your input on ways to continue our support in these areas. Please reach out if you have any thoughts or questions.

Please Donate Today and Help Us Reach Our Goals:
With the Dash only a week away, it's the last call for students to reach their fundraising goals for the school. All money raised will be used to help support our Dicken community, curriculum enrichment, field trips and student experiences, teacher grants and professional development and many fun activities that the PTO creates for our students each year. We could not engage in the wonderful learning opportunities and the fun things we do here without your monetary support. Please know that no amount is too small. Your ongoing backing and support are both truly appreciated.

Calling all Dicken Dash Volunteers!
We are just one week away from the Dicken Dash and need your help to make the event a success. Photographers, Corner Captains and Table Tally Takers - we need your help. If you are able to help during the day of the event, please take a look at the Sign Up Genius.
More information, including the schedule of events and when each class will be dashing, can be found in our Dicken Dash Handbook.

Pumpkin Patch Updates!
Get ready for the Dicken Pumpkin Patch on Friday, October 29th 5-7pm. It’s going to be filled with your favorite games, cake walk, pumpkins, and food!
Some important notes:
Since weather can be so unpredictable, we’re hoping to find 10+ tents (the kind you can set up a table under, not the camping kind) to borrow in case it is raining or snowing. If you have a tent that we could borrow if needed please let Alex know (248 599 2539 or esotericthinks@gmail.com)
We need LOTS of volunteers for setup, takedown, and during the event. Please sign up at this link.
Preorder ticket form will come home in backpack mail on 10/19
Pizza will be available for purchase with tickets!
If you would like to enter a carved pumpkin in the contest, plan to drop it off on 10/29 between 4-5:15pm. We will use these to decorate the forest!
Cake walk will be store-bought packaged items only, but it will still be lots of fun! Plan to bring something to donate if you would like.
