Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it to parent teacher conferences this week. I enjoyed meeting with all of you. As always if you have any questions or concerns about your child please contact me.
Language Arts
- Reading: Our focus this week was on Greek myths. Students read a variety of Greek myths and reviewed characters, setting, plot and theme.
- Writing: We wrote a compare and contrast essay looking at "Hercules' Quest" and an African folktale, "Zomo's Friends."
- Grammar: This week we reviewed prepositions and prepositional phrases.
Math
This week in math students learned different strategies to find factors of a given number. They learned several divisibly rules to help them determine factors. They also learned how to find the common factors of two or more numbers. These skills are preparing students to work with fractions.
Science and Social Studies
- Science: This week in science we reviewed for our energy test on Tuesday and then took the test of Thursday. We start our new unit on waves next week.
- Social Studies: This week in social studies we talked about the role price, incentives, and competition play in the economy. We linked all these concepts back to our mini-society businesses.
