Peterson's News
9/6-9/10
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! The students continue to do a wonderful job following our Panther Pledges of Be Respectful and Be Responsible. This week, students will focus on what it means to Be Safe. During this week, we will teach safety lessons to students. The lessons will cover the mandatory drills for fire and tornado and also general school safety. The following safety skills will be presented in age appropriate ways: listen to an adult, be alert, situational awareness, moving with a purpose, exit awareness and rally points. These lessons are designed to cover the basic components of school safety without creating anxiety or worry in students.
As always if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Best,
Alli Landstrom

Benchmarking Assessments
Indian Prairie School District 204 will administer aimswebPlus benchmark assessments this fall to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The administration window is from August 30th - September 17th. These brief Illinois Learning Standards aligned assessments evaluate student academic performance and growth in the areas of reading and mathematics. Specifically, depending on grade level, literacy measures will assess vocabulary, phonological awareness, word recognition, reading comprehension and reading fluency. Additionally, depending on grade level, numeracy measures will assess number sense, operations, algebraic thinking, measurement/data, geometry, fractions and ratios/proportions. The assessment results are used by teachers and administrators to assist with instructional planning and differentiation at the grade, classroom and student level. Should you have any questions regarding aimswebPlus, please contact me.

Notification of Positive COVID-19 Cases in Schools
Positive cases of COVID-19 in your child's school can be found on the District's COVID Dashboard. The dashboard includes all positive cases of COVID-19 reported to District 204 for individuals who were on campus. The information is updated each Monday by 4 pm. If your child is in close contact with someone who tested positive, a member of the COVID-19 Response Team will notify you directly regarding the need to quarantine as a precaution. Additional information found on this page includes the current transmission level and a link to the corresponding mitigation strategies.
Parents will be notified if their child is considered a close contact with someone who tested positive. Our COVID-19 Response Team at Peterson is our Registered School Nurse, Patti Mathison , and our Certified School Nurse, Christina Cicero. If your child is considered a close contact, you will be given a Quarantine Information Sheet (K-2, 3-5) along with your child's return date, to provide information in what schooling will look like for your child during quarantine. Additionally, I have linked here the District’s Fall Plan with slides 10-13 providing information regarding isolation and quarantine for our elementary students.
