Bee News

Tights Knots July Meeting

Our meeting was hosted by Carolyn Hughes. We started with lots of conversation. Everyone was happy to see each other and spend time catching up. We talked about children, dogs, our first TVs and phones.

As my great niece Dixie would say, “Old lady stuff.” Then we ate dessert first before it melted. You know the saying, “Life is short, eat dessert first.”

Show and Tell was short and sweet. Apparently, our bee members were busy this month with vacations etc. Pat Wagers shared some wallets she made for her daughter. Grace Stroud had a lovely Blooming Nine Patch quilt to show. It was made of 1 ½ “ squares. (Wow, just saying, wow.) Like I said short and sweet. This month was one of the months we brought socks to donate to Safe Haven. Lots of fun socks were collected in time for back to school.

We ended our meeting playing Left Right Center for animal print fabric this month. I was not the only one who was confused by what is an animal print. I brought some hippo fabric. Soon it was down to just me and Grace. Sadly, Grace Stroud took home the fat quarters. There is always next time.

Try to stay cool out there folks.

August Birthdays

Where has the summer gone? Can you believe it is August already. The North Texas quilt festival is only a few weeks away. I am so looking forward to going and seeing all the beautiful quilts everyone has made. Our guild is blessed with many great quilters.

Teachers are busy setting up their class rooms getting ready for another school year. Those with children are shopping for school supplies and clothing. Of course we are looking forward to September when triple digit temperatures days are just a memory.
A big “Thank you”to all that brought snacks to the July guild meeting and “Thank You” to those who helped me set up and clean up after the meeting. I appreciate your help. Our August meeting will be a zoom meeting.
