Wind!!!
Everything YOU need to know! By: Jessica K.
What is Wind?
Wind is the movement of air caused by differences in air pressure.
What Causes Wind?
It is caused by air pressure. Air pressure is the differences in air pressure that are caused by the uneven heating of Earth.
What are Local Winds and How are they Caused?
They are differences in air pressure.
They are caused by the uneven heating of Earth and also move short distances and blow in any direction.
What is a Sea Breeze and How does it happen?
The high pressure is created over the ocean during the day and low pressure over land because of unequal heating. Air moves from the ocean to the land starting a sea breeze.
What is Land Breeze and How does it happen?
Land breeze is the low pressure that occurs over the ocean at night and
high pressure over land because of the uneven heating of earth.
This causes wind to move from the land to the ocean starting a land breeze
What are Global Winds?
Global winds are caused by the combination of pressure
belts and the Coriolis Effect.
What are Doldrums?
Doldrums are located along the equator where no winds blow because the warm rising air starts an area of low pressure.
What is a Trade Wind?
A trade wind is the blow from 30* almost to the equator. It is named that becuause of the early sailors.
What are Polar Easterlies?
Polar easterlies are wind belts that extend from the 60* pole lines.
What is a Jet Stream?
Jet streams are the high speed winds.
