End-of-Year Technology Information
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As the school year is coming to an end, the District would like to provide you with a quick update on Chromebooks and Hotspots. Thank you for your continued support of technology use in our District. We used our devices more than ever this past year and we appreciate all that you did to keep our students learning remotely.
Chromebooks
Returning D45 students will keep district issued Chromebooks over the summer.
The Chromebook should be ready for use on the first day of the 2021-2022 school year and this Chromebook Summer Care provides the information on what needs to be done.
We encourage our students to limit time on screens during the summer. All Chromebook activity will continue to be filtered and logged. However, the District will not be actively monitoring the activity until school resumes.
If your family is moving or will not be attending a D45 school in the fall, contact your school office to make arrangements to turn in the device and charger.
Students with Chromebook issues should turn their device in for repair over the summer. The device will be returned at the beginning of school in August.
If the Chromebook needs repair, please contact technology by emailing support@d45.org, calling (630) 516-7575, or texting (630) 454-7745. Chromebook loaners will not be provided during the summer.
Eighth grade students need to turn in their district issued Chromebooks and chargers to their school on the last day of 8th grade attendance. Remote 8th grade students should bring their Chromebooks and chargers to their promotional exercise at their school.
Hotspots
All hotspots need to be returned by the end of this school year. Please either drop the device and charger off at the school’s front office, the District 45 Administration Office, or have your child deliver the device to their teacher directly.
Sincerely,
Mike Pinney

LRC Book Return
All books checked out from our LRC should have been returned last Tuesday, May 18. This applied to both in-person and full-remote learners. Any full-remote families who may have forgotten to return a checked out book may drop off books, at any time, using the school dropbox located outside our main office door #1. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please reach out to Ms. Jilek, our LRC Specialist, at tjilek@d45.org.

District 45 Meal Pickup
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is continuing to offer its meal program. District 45 meals will be provided free of charge to all children, 18 and under. Grab-n-go lunch and breakfast, seven days worth that is bagged together, is available for our full-remote families to pick up at either District 45 middle school every Wednesday between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. You may pick up meals at either Jackson (door #5) or Jefferson (door #17). Signs are posted to identify the pick-up location at each school. Face coverings must be worn and social distancing must be practiced for everyone’s health and safety.
Summer Meal Service Update
District 45 would like to provide our families with a Summer Meal Service Update. Starting on June 2, 2021, D45’s meal service hours will change. Every Wednesday, families can visit Jefferson Middle School or Jackson Middle School between 9 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to receive 7 days of meals, including breakfast and lunch. Note, there will be no meal service on July 7. Because of this, 14 meals will be provided on June 30.
District 45 will serve meals to all children 18 and under. Children do not have to attend a District 45 school to receive a meal. Only one pick-up per student will be allowed.
