Principal's Corner
January 25th - January 29th
Students & Families,
We've almost made it to the half-way point of our academic year. Unless the teacher has been clear about other expectations, the last date to turn in late work will be 11:59 p.m. this Thursday, January 28th. That will allow teachers to finalize their grades on their Clerical Day this Friday the 29th as we send Report Cards out the following week. Please utilize Office Hours (1:30 - 2:00 p.m.) each day this week if you need help from your teacher.
While it is exciting that our K-5 students are going to be returning to the classroom soon, we will still have to be patient and wait for the metrics to allow our middle school (and high school) students back. We are hoping that is sooner rather than later, and we will be working together to make sure case counts in the county stay low! Do your best in physically distancing, wearing a mask, and washing hands to slow the spread.
Starting this week, students and families will be able to tell us why DIVERSITY MATTERS. At South, Diversity means appreciating our differences. Responses (with a submitted picture) may be highlighted on our social media pages - Facebook and Instagram. There are a few prompts to choose from that relate to diversity, and we want to hear from you!
One piece of feedback we will be seeking from all of our students this week and next is a "Middle School Elective Interest" form. We are in the process of planning what might be possible to offer as electives this coming year, and the input of students is valuable. This is only an interest form and not something to use to sign up for electives or even a guarantee that we will have a teacher or the capacity to offer the elective. But it will help us in our planning!
Stay tuned in coming weeks to hear about a service project we have planned in coordination with the City of Grants Pass and their Adopt-A-Street program.
Finish Strong,
Mr. Sale
Family Character Dare - SWEET NEIGHBORS!!!
Bake something sweet and share the goods with a neighbor or friend nearby.
If you have a special recipe, teach your student how to make it! If not, look something up together and see if you can make something delicious. If it doesn't turn out the way you want, you can always eat it yourself and try again next week!
