Here are some valentine themed breakouts. As always email Lundstrum if I can help in any way.
Valentine Read Aloud Collection
If you enjoyed the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/Winter themed read aloud slides, then hopefully you will also find this smaller collection of Valentine's stories useful. There is a question template at the end that you can delete or copy and edit to provide questions about each story. Remember that you will need to make your own copy of the presentation in order to edit.

Midway's First Family Connect Night
Midway Elementary will have their very first Family Connect Night on Tuesday, February 25th. There will be No homework and No Studying assigned this evening! We hope students and their families’ use our Family Connect Nights as a time to reconnect with one another. We encourage you to set aside technology on these evenings and enjoy some fun family time together. Please share pictures of your family playing games, etc by using the hashtag #MidwayReads and #OneMidway
Midway Students Making an Impact
The students identified many problems and came up with solutions.
- 5th grade students wanted to reduce the use of disposable plastic water bottles by getting a water bottle filler. Students researched the harmful effects of disposable plastic and Styrofoam. Students found a partner in education, Modern Woodmen of America, who were willing to help purchase the compost bin and water bottle filler. Money was raised at Bingo night to help fund their project and our partner in education matched funds raised.
- 4th grade wanted to get a new compost bin to help our garden beds.
- 3rd grade wanted to reduce the use of Styrofoam lunch trays in our school. They students contacted Dee Mathis, the area manager from Food and Nutrition Services, to help them brainstorm effective ways to reduce the use of Styrofoam in our school. Students were able to help change our breakfast trays in the cafeteria to cardboard which is less harmful to our environment.
