'We should be as shining lamps, giving light to all' - Catherine McAuley
Dear whānau,
What a great start we have had to term 2. This week we welcomed 7 new students. In Pukeko: Ollie Braithwaite, Jordan Coyle (Tyler's little brother), Harper Holland-Williams (Braylen's little sister), Thomas Muir (Theo's little brother), and Belle Savage. Further up the school we have Hollie (Ruru) and James (Takahe) Deuchrass who have joined us from Winton. Wishing you all happy school days and we look forward to welcoming all of you at our Welcome Liturgy later this term.
In other exciting news, we've had our architect, builders and other tradies on site this week. They have started work on Annie's old office, the old staffroom/Oscar/extra new entrant classroom , and first aid and reading recovery rooms which will be renovated and rejigged to create a new learning space and resource rooms.
We're looking forward to having you back in school and joining us to support your kids in different activities throughout the term. We've already got a few events on the calendar: Mother's Day Liturgy (tomorrow), Cross Country (week 3) and whole school Mass (week 4) - we'd love to see you there.
God bless,
Mallory
Acting Principal
Building Alan and his team are doing a fantastic job. | Welcome to St Mary's! We are stoked to have these new kids and their families join our school community. | ANZAC Day Mia Wilkins and Elsa Fraser did a very impressive job of laying our wreath at the dawn parade on ANZAC Day. |
Where in the world is Annie Nelson?
Annie isn't very good at bragging, so I'll happily do it for her. Just incase you're not up with your Order of the British Empire awards, I'll tell you this. Adele, Ed Sheeran and John Lennon (he gave his back, but you get the idea) have all received MBE awards. The OBE award is a whole step above that. David Beckham has one, I think that's all I need to say about that. You're a legend, Kate!

Cross CountryTraining is underway. Save the date:18th of May. Whole school cross country @ the A&P Showgrounds. 12pm start. | Enjoying the autumn leaves!Ollie, Aubree, Jimmy, Ayla, and Ruby | Looking after our environment - together!Chris and Suzanne Boyle have put together a compost bin around the back of the church for the parish and school to share. If you have scraps you would like to add to the bin, you are welcome to bring them along. |
