Tiger Family News

2nd Quarter

From Mrs. Malin...

We have had a great start to our school year! Our enrollment has increased for the 2021-22 school year, and we are so excited to have so many new London Tigers this year! We currently have 205 students in Pre-K through 4th grade. Our quarantine numbers have always been and continue to remain extremely low this year with zero cases of exposure at school.

Our mission at London is for all students to reach high levels of achievement. Our teachers are working relentlessly to teach students essential standards and support students who need intervention and who need extension after learning essential standards.

How can you help as parents?

* First and foremost, make sure your child is on time and at school all day long every single day unless quarantined by a medical professional or having a fever. The district attendance policy is in effect which is 10 days absent for any reason per school year excluding quarantines by medical professionals.

* Second, read books aloud to your child at home on a regular basis. This is one of the most effective ways to improve reading!

* Third, limit the amount of technology, YouTube, and video games at home and ensure there is no access to them when they should be sleeping.

* Last, ensure that your child goes to bed at an appropriate time so they get a good night's sleep.

With so much negativity in the world and on social media, we encourage you to help be a change in the world! Be a role model for your child. They are listening to your words, your tone, and how you respond to challenges....even when you think they aren't! Share positivity on social media. We would love for you to share positive things about our school with others. We are teaching our students how to be a positive influence on those around them, and we encourage you to do this alongside with us! We are all better together! :)

Working through Concerns and Conflicts

While we would love for everything to always be perfect, we work with children who are still learning and growing. In addition, we are all human. Our goal is to excel every day in every way in all that we do. We do our very best to always keep parents informed and to be proactive, working together to solve problems that may come up. We expect our students to share things from school with their families. However, when children share, they often do not have the maturity to see or understand the bigger picture of incidents. Additionally, we are confidential in how we address individual issues. If you are concerned about something your child tells you, please know that there is usually more to it than they are perceiving. (Just in the same way, we know there is usually more to what they are perceiving when they tell us about things at home!) We are happy to talk to anyone who has a concern and problem solve together! We have a district protocol for working through conflicts and concerns as stated in our handbook. Please follow this order instead of going to other parents, social media, etc. which often gives a negative view of our school and our staff without all of the information. Please know that when talking together, our focus is to problem solve about how to help your child. We cannot share about other students with you. Thank you for being a positive partner with us in your child's education!
