Career Ready PA Region 1 Spotlight

The Northwest Pennsylvania Job Connect and Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit are working together to overcome COVID-19 and bring career ready skills to the students of our region. Here’s where you can benefit – it’s open to anyone with the link!

What’s going to happen?

  • Objective: To synchronously connect students and educators with professionals in the 16 career clusters via engaging activities that align to the CEW Standards.

When’s it going to happen?

  • That’s up to the professional that has committed. See dates, times and link in our webpage (linked below).
    • Possible dates: 10/19/20 - 12/11/20
    • Possible times: 30 minute connection sometime between 9-1 EST

  • 30 minutes
    • 15 minutes of professional sharing
    • 15 minutes of Q&A monitored by educators

PA Rural Robotics Initiative

The Pennsylvania Rural Robotics Initiative formed in the spring of 2018 as an educational consortium of Western Pennsylvania schools to work collaboratively across the region to create sustainable, world-class STEM education experiences that would engage our students as we prepare them for 21st century careers. The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) is a trusted source for knowledge about high-quality, evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL). CASEL supports educators and policy leaders and enhances the experiences and outcomes for all PreK-12 students.

Preparing Special Education Students for Employment in a Modern Economy During COVID

Overnight, COVID impacted training opportunities at CBI sites due to current health risks. Meanwhile, schools are still responsible for meeting the requirements of IDEA and providing appropriate Transition Services. To support students during these uncertain times, Digitability is providing a plug and play model for virtual instruction with minimal training for teachers across the United States.

In collaboration with Pennsylvania's Career Ready State Project, Digitability is hosting a live, YouTube webinar to showcase ways school districts can support transition services in virtual, in-classroom and hybrid environments.

Simplifying Personal Finance (Financial Literacy Webinar)

Join the author of The Missing Semester, Gene Natali, and guests, for this 2 hour virtual, interactive webinar. Gerri Walsh, President of FINRA Investor Education Foundation, will provide a presentation. Also, hear from teachers that currently offer financial literacy programs in their districts and leave with resources and information to provide financial literacy programming in your district.
