5th 6 weeks
From the Principal
Dear Clarkston Family,
Another six weeks in the record books and students are learning so many new things and sharpening their skills every day. Arriving to school on time each day is critical to academic as well as social and emotion success. Remember, that your child can enjoy a nutritious breakfast in our Café from 7:00-7:30 free of charge and then transition into a day of learning.
Although our official start time is 7:50, Clarkston teachers maximize instructional time by establishing critical academic routines when picking up their class at 7:35. If your child arrives even just a moment after 7:50 they have already missed something important to their success.
We understand that there are days when life just happens, so if you do arrive on campus after 7:50 please help us keep your child safe by walking them in to the building and signing them in at the office. We do not have staff outside to greet students after this time. This is a relatively new procedure, but one that is working very well, thanks to our families!
Modeling the responsibility of being on time will also ensure carry over to their career as they grow into adulthood. Those that arrive on time have a greater opportunity to succeed, so thank you in advance for putting your child on the path of success each day! Our staff is working tirelessly to help your child be the absolute best they can be!
With warmest regards,
Mrs. Nabi
Principal
Headstart
Head Start will be finishing our unit on building and creating. They will build a house from foods that are different shapes. We will also be learning about things that move, like our bodies or modes of transportation. Students will discover how things move and the patterns that are created in our environment through movement.

The first graders had a great 4th six weeks! We learned about objects in the night sky and observed the moon every night to record the changes that we noticed. We celebrated our 100th day of school with lots of fun learning activities about the number 100. We even dressed up to look like we were 100 years old. We look forward to the 5th six weeks! This year is flying by and we are learning so much!

Greetings from Third Grade!!
Our students have been learning so much this school year. In math, we are learning measurements of liquid (capacity) or weight. Science is exciting learning about the life cycles of animals and plants. In reading, we are still requiring our students to read for 30 minutes each night. Nevertheless, we are working hard to finish this year strong!!!

4th grade
This six weeks we are gearing up to ace the fourth grade writing STAAR test in March. We will be reviewing back over all of the standards that we have covered to refresh our memories and polish our skills.
We are spiraling back through non-fiction genres and sharpening our skills for making connections. In science we are looking at patterns on Earth. In math we are still learning new concepts in measurement. Students have also been learning about some of the industries that employed Texans in the period after the Civil War.
Reviewing multiplication and division facts at home can be very beneficial for your child. Reading to and with your students and then asking them questions about their reading will help them in every subject. Take the time to make your child speak in complete sentences too! Anytime your child writes they are extending their knowledge!
