EECV Family Newsletter - January
1/4/21 News, Updates, and Information for our Families
New Year's Wishes
Dear EECV Families,
Happy New Year! I hope that winter break brought time for joy to you and your family. As we begin 2021, we continue with virtual learning. The materials you picked up on December 22nd will help support your child in their next few weeks of learning. As I have popped into virtual classrooms throughout December I was impressed to see the focus and engagement of our students and the support that our students are receiving from their families as they navigate a virtual classroom. Thank you for all you are doing!
In January, we will continue in our virtual model until the end of the first semester (1/22/21). Please remember that your child's teacher, support staff, and the EECV office staff are here to help. Please reach out by phone or email with whatever you need.
As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns that you believe I can help with.
Sincerely,
Jackie Plantner, Principal

Let’s start 2021 off by focusing on health and safety at home!
- Check your medications and dispose of outdated or unused prescriptions. Make sure that medications are stored secured and out of reach of children. Visit Lorain County Public Health, or call them (440) 322-6367 if you need medication disposal bags or locking medication safe storage bags.
- If you have firearms in your home, or they are present in a home that your child visits, make sure that they are stored in a secure locked case or box with the keys and ammo stored in a separate secure location. Free gun cable locks are typically available at the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office on Murray Ridge Road in Elyria.
- Test smoke detectors and replace batteries as needed. Practice an evacuation fire drill with your family and establish a safe meeting place to reunite.
- Practice “what if” scenarios with you child so that they can think about what they would do in an emergency or situation that they may need to get help. Provide children with resources, such as whom and when to call for help, and practice different scenarios with them.
- Continue performing daily health checks for yourself, and your family members before heading out for the day. Get a free Kinsa Smart Thermometer by texting the word FLUENCY to 900900. Simply download the app and register for Elyria Early Childhood Village.
- Keep your kids safe on the internet by discussing safety and monitoring their activity. Devices should be used in common areas and off limits in private areas such as bedrooms or bathrooms. Set clear expectations about appropriate online behavior. Here are some helpful links to resources concerning internet safety:
We are looking forward to seeing you all again soon! Stay healthy and safe! Call me at (440) 284-8099 or email me at packmanjennifer@elyriaschools.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Happy New Year!! ~Nurse Packman~
