Principal's Message
Dear Northwood Family:
As the school year comes to a close, I wanted to emphasize the importance of limiting social media use and encouraging reading in your child’s daily routine. While social media has its benefits, it can also be a distraction that takes away valuable learning and personal development time. Studies have shown that children cannot manage the stress and anxiety caused by the pressures of social media while the opposite happens with what is learned through reading.
Reading is an activity that improves cognitive function, increases empathy, and boosts academic performance. Successful people understand the power of reading and make it a priority in their daily lives. By encouraging your child to read, you are setting them up for success in all aspects of their life.
Let’s work together to help our students become the best version of themselves because when we do good things, good things happen.
I hope that you have a lovely weekend with your children. Remember, all they need is your love and attention.
Peace and calm,
Efraín Martínez, Ed.D.

6th grade Field Trip
We are excited to share info for the 6th grade field trip, taking place on Tuesday, May 16th, at the Museum of Science and Industry. 6th grade students plus teacher chaperones will leave around 9:00 am. We will return to Northwood around 2:00 pm.
Please see the parent letter for information about student lunch options. Students who normally receive a school lunch will have that option; all others should plan to bring a sack lunch in a paper bag with the student's name on it.
