Haiku - Japanese Poetry
As a class we will be working on Haiku this month! Be sure to ask your child to read you their own Haiku at the end of each week!
- The traditional rules of writing a Haiku
- How to find, and recognize a Haiku
- Interpret examples of Haiku
- Brainstorm ideas for Haiku, as a class
- Develop a Haiku for each season, as a class
- Compose their own Haiku to share with the class
There will be no Haiku due the week of Spring Break, but... if your child brings one to class that they worked on with you over break they will receive a special treat! (Be on the lookout for the instructional handout I will send home on March 9th so that you too, may become a Haiku master while helping your child write one!)
