- Battle of the Books: We are three weeks into Battle of the Books, and the students are doing a great job! Your child should have at least one and a half books completed in order to meet the three book goal by April 5.
- Reading: This week our skills are story structure and questioning as a comprehension strategy. We've been reading Greek myths and learning about words that allude to Greek mythology.
- Writing: We are working on compare and contrast essays.
- Grammar: We are learning about prepositions and prepositional phrases.

This week, students compared farm life in the Midwest in the 1800’s, 1900’s, and the present time. They learned about tools farmers used, the size of farms, and what living on a farm was like. They completed much of the work in their TCI accounts, so ask them to see what they’ve done. Also, they acted out different jobs on a farm in the 1900’s and interviewed each other about what it was like. They read and discussed what a farm auction in the present time might be like and how it affected different members of the community.

- Please be sure to have your child charge his/her iPad every evening. I only have a few chargers in the classroom. Students use their iPads on a daily basis in all subjects for instruction, it is imperative they come to school with a fully charged iPad and ready to learn.
- Also, if you child does not have a pair of headphones or earbuds, please pick up a pair for him/her. I had ten extra at the start of the school year and they have all been lost or damaged. Thank you.
