HAPPY MONDAY!

Good morning---

I hope you had a great weekend and are energized by that extra hour of time that you gained through Day Light Savings :) . I know I am, my friends!

As we progress through second quarter, please continue to do an awesome job of following the hallway expectations. It truly is impactful. Also, please touch base with your students about the need to always travel with a pass during class periods.

In addition, please know that the feedback from our faculty meeting has been dis-aggregated and has shaped many of actions of the last few weeks. For example, hallway monitors have been brought in to improve supervision, hallway expectations have been clearly communicated to help improve hallway behavior, a de-escalation presentation has been scheduled to help provide de-escalation strategies, and administrators have started sending copies of disciplinary notices through email in order to help with communication. Thank you for your collaboration. Together we will continue to improve our school.

I look forward to a great week. Thank you for all you do to help our students to grow and learn.

DE-ESCALATION PRESENTATION

As many, many member of our staff mentioned in your feedback at the hour-by-hour meetings, there is a need to receive some training regarding de-escalation strategies. As a result, Dr. Vanderpool has arranged for Jamie Lipinski-Brown to present on de-escalation strategies, especially strategies for working with students who are heated. The first presentation will occur on November 10 and will be available during periods one through five. The second presentation will be on November 13 and will be available during periods one through seven. It will be held in room 228. You can attend during your planning period. These meetings are optional, but we hope that you will take advantage of this training so you can increase your comfort level regarding de-escalation. I thank you in advance for your consideration.
