What are Anabiolic Steriods?
Anabiolic Steriods are man made substances related to testosterone doctors use anabiolic steriods to treat hormone problems in men delayed puberty, and muscle loss from some diseases.
How are they abused?
When people take steroids without a doctor prescriptions in our body. Anabiolic steroids are abused when people take them without a doctors prescription, or when they take more then the prescribed dosage.
How do they affect the brain?
When anabolic steroids enter the body, they affect the part of your brain called the limbic system. This triggers aggressive behavior, extreme mood swings, feeling paranoid, jealousy, delusions, and causes you to feel like you are invincible.
What are other effects of Anabolic Steroids?
Anabolic steroids can cause high blood pressure, changes in blood cholesterol, enlarged heart, heart attack or stroke, liver disease (including cancer), kidney problems/failure, and severe acne. They can also cause:
Male: Breast growth and shrinking of testicles, low sperm count/infertility, and increased risk for prostate cancer
Female: Voice deepening, growth of facial hair, male-pattern baldness, changes in or end of menstrual cycle, and enlargement of clitoris
Can you get addicted?
Yes; when a user of steroids stop using them, they can experience withdrawal symptoms, such as feeling depressed, mood swings, feeling tired or restless, loss of appetite, insomnia, and the desire to take more steroids.
Can you die from use?
Yes, although it is rare, you can die from a heart attack/stroke or HIV/Aids caused by steroids or an infected needle used to inject yourself with steroids.
