Principal Ponderings: Who Takes Care of the Caretaker
There have been some recent events that have got me thinking about caretakers and the important role that they play in the life of others. But what had occupied my mind the most was who is taking care of the caretaker. Yesterday was a learning moment for me in regards to this. My daughter rarely stops from 6:15 am-7:30 pm at night. In addition to that, her 4-year-old self probably doesn't listen as well as we would like her to. So while I am primarily taking care of getting Hayes ready and carrying him out the door to the car and from the car to the dr.s office, Ang has Whittaker. Then we get in the office and entertaining her is a two-person job. Then we get into the office...and the words "flu shot" are mentioned. Oh goodness, Whittaker loses her mind. I'm holding down the top and the nurse is holding down the bottom. Flu shot is done.
The whole time I'm thinking, this would be so difficult handling solo. In the end, me staying home probably meant more the caretake for TEAM Swegles' more than it did for the littles.
Who is a caretaker in your life and how can you offer some assistance?

Two Resources Worth Sharing
‘There’s nothing more important than the humans in the room, so we start with the humans in the room.’
Ask Hooper about Happies and Crappies.
"Let’s face it, teaching can be a stressful job. Teachers play many roles in the classroom, which builds up a lot of overwhelm and stress on a daily basis. We are human, and of course we have personal things that cause us stress outside of the classroom as well. It can be a challenge to set this all aside and be 100% available for our students."
