Mrs. Ewald’s and Ms. Keacher’s Reading and Language Arts
This week, students will be presenting their Black History Month research projects, highlighting 5 influential African Americans and their accomplishments and contributions to society. We will also read a story about Sojourner Truth, Only Passing Through, and apply summarizing and synthesizing skills to the story.
Mrs. Fowler’s Reading and Language Arts
This week, students will write a nonfiction narrative essay describing the influence someone from a different generation has had on them or someone they know. Before beginning their essay, we will review elements of a nonfiction narrative, read an example of a well-written narrative, plan, and pre-write. They will then draft, revise, and edit their essays.
MATH
Course 2 students will be reviewing for their Chapter 6 CSA on Equations and Inequalities Tuesday before taking their assessment on Wednesday. Friday we will begin our Geometry unit by classifying angles.
Accelerated 7 students will be solving two-step equations and writing equations before diving into inequalities at the end of the week.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In social studies we will be starting the week with a project for Black History Month. Students will work with a partner to research a milestone event, and then we will be creating a class timeline to hang up. At the end of the week, we will be learning about the Preamble and Article I of the Constitution.
SCIENCE
Students will be spending time getting more comfortable with all the vocabulary they learned this past week. Through a vocabulary extension assignment and an in class investigation, students will dive deeper into the world of genetics. A study guide for our next summative assessment on Tuesday, February 25 will also be passed out at the end of the week.
