The Cardinal Connection
4 Houses : 1 Family
Principal's note...
Cardinal families,
Welcome Back and Happy New Year! I hope each of you were able to get the necessary and well deserved rest over the holiday break. I'm excited about the spring semester and all that we will accomplish.
*Couple reminders moving into the spring semester below.*
Morning Arrival
- Students will be reporting directly to the gym upon arrival in the mornings. Make sure you have students dropped off by 8:00am.
- 5 days of being tardy/early dismissals that are unexcused will result in morning or after school detention which is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Students will have the option to eat breakfast in the cafeteria in the mornings. They will transition to class at 8:00am.
Lunch
- Students will return to eating in the cafeteria.
Dismissal
- Make sure you have your car tags in your window for a smooth dismissal in the afternoons.
- Any transportation changes need to be called in through the office before 2:30pm.
- If there are consistent changes in transportation, a weekly schedule sent on Monday would limit the need for calling each day.
Grades
- Grades are updated each week. Please check to see if your child has any missing assignments. If there are low grades, many times it is missing or a student has the option to redo the assignment or test. Grades are a representation of progress at that moment in time. Contact the teacher if there are questions or concerns. Working together on work completion is critical to success.
- Check PowerSchool.
Attendance
- Each student is allowed 5 parent days that they can use for excused absences for the entire year. Medical documentation must be presented for an excused medical absence. All absences are considered unexcused unless there is written documentation sent to the office.
- Students that are sent home by our nurse are considered excused absences.
House Points
- Students are doing an excellent job earning points for their house. There are many ways that students can earn points such as helping a friend, holding the door for someone, high achievement on a test, making great progress, or taking initiative to name a few. I am encouraging our teachers and staff to catch students who are making a positive difference. We hope this will help students build the right habits on a continual bases for school and life.
Thank you for your help with these procedures. Let's start this New Year off right!
