A MESSAGE FROM MRS. LUNA
Dear families,
Fall definitely is here! Please remind children to dress in layers so they are able to be comfortable throughout the day.
As last week's letter stated, mental health is a growing concern among children. As someone who has personal experience with anxiety and a sibling who committed suicide, I take mental health very seriously. The message I try to convey is that it is ok to ask for help and it is ok to not be ok. Children are not exempt from mental health concerns. To help support children struggling with mental health, LSH has a couple of support systems in place.
Our new school social worker, Ms. Susie Spika, started on Monday. We are very excited to have her join our Park and Hilltop team to support children. Next week our mental health provider through Fernbrook, Danielle, will be starting in our district. To receive services from Fernbrook, staff will make a referral to them. A member of their staff will reach out to the family to get some information and then services can start.
We are in this together!
Mrs. Christa Luna

Bullying Prohibition Policy
An act of bullying, by either an individual, student or group of students, is expressly prohibited on school premises, on school district property, at school functions or activities, or on school transportation. This policy applies not only to students who directly engage in an act of bullying but also to students who, by their indirect behavior, condone or support another student's act of bullying. This policy also apply to any student whose conduct at any time or in any place constitutes bullying or other prohibited conduct that interferes with or obstructs the mission or operations of the school district or the safety or welfare of the student or other students, or materially and substantially interferes with a student's educational opportunities or performance or ability to participate in school functions or activities or receive school benefits, services or privileges. This policy also applies to an act of cyberbullying regardless of whether such act is committed on or off school district property and/or with or without the use of school district resources.
No teacher, administrator, volunteer, contractor, or other employee of the school district shall permit, condone or tolerate bullying.
A bullying report form and entire Bullying Prohibition Policy 514 can be found on our district's website www.isd2397.org
