I Behave As Though This Is The Day I Will Be Remembered For.
Principal's Message - March 2022
After a long winter, spring seems close… We have been VERY busy since Teachers’ Convention and Family Day. While COVID is not “OVER,” we certainly welcome the removal of most restrictions that pertain to schools. We are especially happy that extracurricular sports, clubs, and fine arts opportunities have returned. Positive cases of COVID-19 have been very low at Gish School and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s hard work and effort to employ safe practices, and to communicate with Gish administration when positive cases are known.
Gish staff hosted a very well-attended Virtual Kindergarten Open House on February 9. We still have room in the GLOBAL Program for Gr. 1-9 students at Gish School, and we’ve nearly reached our maximum capacity for Kindergarten Cogito and Global students. We are no longer accepting Kindergarten students from outside of St. Albert in either program. We will continue to accept Global Kindergarten students from Akinsdale and Pineview.
VIRTUAL Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday, March 22 and Wednesday, March 23 from 5:00-8:00pm. Please be sure to book a time with your child(ren)’s teacher(s). Bookings can be made starting at 8:00am on Tuesday, March 15.
We continue to be proud of the student leadership opportunities at Gish School. Please enjoy synergizing with family and friends during Spring Break from March 25 - April 3 inclusive. Remember that Wednesday, April 6 is Staff Meeting Day (Kindergarten students do not attend) and Friday, March 25 has no school.
After Spring Break, we’ll look forward to lots of productive learning, including the return of some field trips. We are also hosting a junior high “Information Evening” on Wednesday, April 13 from 6:30pm-8:00pm. This is primarily for our grade 6 Cogito students, but anyone may join via the Google Meets link: meet.google.com/qbc-fdkd-xyy.
PLEASE participate in Alberta Education’s Provincial Surveys. Letters are being mailed to every parent of Gr. 4, 7, & 10 students. We hope that you’ll communicate positively about your experiences at Gish School, and advocate for public education with predictable, sustainable provincial funding.
Thanks to all of our stakeholders for your continued support. We are very fortunate at GISH School.
