AASB School Climate & Connectedness Survey

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is partnering with the Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) to conduct a survey of our students that measures school climate and student connectedness. The School Climate and Connectedness Survey (SCCS) will be administered to all students in grades 3-12. Certified staff, as well as support staff, will also participate in this survey. The MSBSD will administer the survey in all schools February 1 - February 12, 2016. The SCCS measures student and staff perceptions of school climate, how peers treat each other, observations of student behavior at school, and connections between school and the community. Positive school climate and student connectedness are associated with improved academic achievement and reduced risk behaviors.

There have been several concerns about students wearing hats, using their cell phones, and using their ear buds during passing time. Please help us reinforce these school expectations. Remember these expectations are during school hours. During lunch and the teacher's (classroom) discretion students are allowed to use their ear buds and cellphones.
