TIPS Journal December 11, 2020

keeping our families in the school loop

Greetings from Tokyo International Progressive School

Dear Parent Community of TIPS,

Hello from the principal's desk.

Our crowdfunding is off to a fantastic start! Today we reached the 50% mark of our goal of 5,000,000 yen. The funds will go towards furnishing the new campus with equipment for our science lab and music room. We appreciate so much the kind contributions our families and other supporters have made. You may contribute here in Japanese or here in English if you wish to do so.

Many thanks to all the families who have already shown support of our International Day - December 18 - by letting us know which food(s) from their culture they will provide for our lunch. If you are still on the fence, you may see what others have in mind at this document.

Although this International Day will not be as festive as those of other years, we will still celebrate our diversity. As a reminder, food provided should be wrapped in individual servings and be served either chilled or at room temperature.

Monday is judging day for the winter holiday door decoration contest in TAP. The winning TAP will be served a pizza lunch on December 17. This year we have some very busy doors competing. Our ACE class reminds you that December 14 is also the last day to bring a gift for those in the Secret Santa gift giving activity.

A very happy holiday season to each of you and yours.

Today four young people took the title of TIPS 2020 Debate Team Champs. The final debate topic was Christmas vs. Halloween as the better holiday. Both sides found compelling arguments! The environment, creative pursuits, families, all the elements of the holidays were covered. Prizes will be awarded December 18. Thank you debate coaches, Mr. Jessen-Petersen, Ms. Koh, Mr. Wan and Mr. Tomlinson for the encouragement to our best arguers.
