Eureka Math Learning Events
Preparation and Customization - Eureka Math
Study Alternative School 2343 W. Olive St Springfield, MO
GOCSD is partnering with Great Minds to offer three days of Eureka Math professional learning for the special rate of $150 per registrant per day.
A trained Eureka Math facilitator will guide participants through a three-step process for customizing a lesson. Educators will study the lessons in depth to discern the decisions inherent in each Eureka Math lesson and module, study the curriculum's teaching sequences, and learn how to customize curriculum materials to meet the needs fo their students while maintaining pacing.
The one-day sessions for grades K - 2 (Nov 1), grades 3 - 5 (Nov 2) include professional readings, classroom videos, opportunities for vertical collaboration, interactive demonstrations, and plenty of discussion.
The session supports any educator who wants to learn how to customize the curriculum while maintaining fidelity. The material covered will benefit anyone currently using the curriculum, whether new to Eureka Math or a seasoned implementer, including:
• Classroom Teachers
• Math Specialists and Coaches
• Curriculum Directors
• School or District Administrators
Agenda for each session:
Morning Session: 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Lunch: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (on your own)
Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM
The facilitator guides participants through interactive modeling and practice using Eureka Math’s replicable three-step process for preparing and customizing lessons to meet the needs of students.
The goal is to provide participants with a deep understanding of a process for customization. Therefore participants will:
• Study module components to understand a particular lesson’s role in the module’s larger story.
• Analyze a lesson’s components to recognize the deliberate instructional sequence.
• Practice customizing lesson components using a selected lesson.
• Work collaboratively, in grade-level groups, to prepare and customize a lesson of their choice.
Registration deadline for the grades K - 2 and 3 - 5 events is October 27 or until registrant limits have been met.
Participants should bring a copy of a printed module from which they are currently teaching or will be teaching in the near future.
Location: Study Alternative Center 2343 W. Olive Springfield, MO
