Counselor’s Corner - Parents of 9th graders PLEASE read!!

There are still many slots open for 9th grade conferences!

The week of December 8, all ninth graders currently enrolled in a MAPS class will be conferencing with parents to discuss the following:

  • Personal Graduation Plans
  • Career Goals/Career Cruising Profiles
  • "True Colors" Personality Traits
  • Business Projects

This is a required activity that gives students an opportunity to share their goals and aspirations individually with their parent(s). Students only present to their own parents. They are encouraged to be creative in their presentations. Mrs. Slaughter will be in MAPS classes the first week of December working with students to help them explore graduation options. She will also be available for questions and comments during conferences. Please sign up for a conference using the following link:

“LUNCH BOX TUESDAYS” are coming! Any LVHS Seniors interested in $$$$ for college? Join Mrs. Slaughter every Tuesday, beginning December 9, in Room A107 during lunch to discuss scholarship opportunities. Bring your lunch, your initiative and be ready to work!

Don't forget...YOU can request to have your students' iPad switched to a basic profile if you feel like it is distracting them from learning!

Yes, your student needs a note when they are tardy or absent.

In order not to be counted truant, a student will require a note from a parent excusing any tardy or absence. The consequence for truancy is a day in ISS! So, please help us make sure we know where students are throughout the day by providing those notes! Thanks!

The iPad ate my homework!

There have always been odd - out of a student's control - things that have caused a student not to be able to turn in their homework on time. The iPad adds another variable to successful completion of schoolwork. What happens if there is a technological mishap that happens that causes a student to lose their work? All tech-related schoolwork failures will be investigated by Mr. Mathisen to determine what happened to try to keep the issue from repeating. If it is determined that the issue is no fault of the student, that student will not be penalized.
