THE IMPORTANCE OF LUNCH: IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE FOOD!
How Assigned Seats During Lunchtime Can Foster a Positive School Culture (Note: These are not assigned seats that stay the same for extended times)
Principal starts 'No phone, new friends Friday' lunchtime tradition
National No One Eats Alone Day Tori Cox from Special Olympics shared this with our schools who are participating in Champions Together. Taking part in this event is an example of the Whole School Engagement Pillar toward earning a Champions Together in the Middle banner. The organization Beyond Differences is putting on a campaign called No One Eats Alone™ for February 14, 2020. They have many resources online that you can access here. Their big push for this day is to include others at lunch. On the website you can sign up for a free backpack with tools to help implement this all-inclusive lunch. This is an ideal program to have a student leadership team spread the word via announcements, flyers, banners, etc. so that the entire school knows about it!
Even if your cafeteria is organized so that no one eats alone, the ideas on the site can help make lunch more of a time that all students look forward to, rather than dreading it.

JOIN TEACHERSFIRST WINTER BOOK STUDY
TeachersFirst is hosting a virtual book club on Jaime Donnally's book Learning Transported. The book introduces immersive technologies (augmented, virtual and mixed reality) and explains how to customize their use in safe, affordable ways.
I have participated in some of their past studies, and found them to be among the best book club experiences. The study begins and ends with a webinar for all participants.
