Recess and cold weather
It is that time of year to be messaging about snow/cold weather! As the weather is turning colder, please remind your children to wear coats, gloves, and hats. We do go outside until the "real feel" temperature is 10 degrees. When it snows, please send in snow clothes if your child would like to play in the snow. Please send extra clothes in your child's backpack (socks, shirt, and pants). If your child gets wet we would like to have extra clothing available so they are dry the rest of the day.
Stone Soup Food Drive
Thank you to the Arbor View families who volunteered to sort the donated items at the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry this week! Check out the pictures below of the food pantry and how the items were sorted.
If your child(ren) participated in the Month of Giving and Gratitude activity, please ask them to share how these acts impacted them as you celebrate Thanksgiving next week.

Glen Ellyn Junior Women's Club annual toy drive
Glen Ellyn Junior Woman’s Club is once again preparing for our annual "Christmas Baskets Sponsor a Family" program. Last year, the Christmas Baskets program provided food, clothing, toiletries, toys, and gifts to 148 needy families and seniors – 602 people - within the Glen Ellyn community.
The toys that you donate are distributed to all the children on our sponsored families list – more than 200 children - for the 2021 holiday season. All our sponsored families are local and live within the boundaries of our Glen Ellyn school districts (D41 and CCSD 89 combined).
If you would like to participate in our toy drive, please donate a new, unwrapped toy for a child between the ages of birth through 12 years. Books, crafts, gift cards, and other tween-appropriate items, suited for older children (9 through 12), are especially needed.
Please drop your donation in the collection box found in the hallway of your school. We will be collecting toys through Tuesday, December 7. Please note: Projected delivery driver shortages and long delivery times may delay online shipping. Please shop early to have items arrive before December 7.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions last year, we were unable to collect toys from our local schools and businesses. We created online wish lists through Myregistry.com and Amazon to make purchasing toys as easy as possible. The online wish lists were such a success last year, we are keeping them!
Don’t have time to shop but want to support our annual toy drive? We will gladly accept gift cards or monetary donations and do the shopping for you! https://bit.ly/GEJWCdonate

Thank you for your time and effort in making the Glen Ellyn Juniors "Christmas Baskets Sponsor a Family" program a success.
Happy Holidays!
