Principal's Report

It is hard to believe that we have just 7 weeks left in the 2018-2019 school year! Everyone has grown so much--from the kindergartners preparing for 1st grade to our 5th graders heading off to middle school! We still have important work to do once we return from Spring Break so we want to be sure that we finish strong.

Special Olympics held on April 24

Athletes from Oakview will travel to Furman University for this year's Spring Games! Participating in track and field events, our students are looking forward to this fun and rewarding experience. Living by the Special Olympics motto--Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.--Oakview is well represented by our students.

The window for our state testing opens Wednesday, May 8th. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will participate in both ELA and Math testing. 4th graders will take the science test while 5th graders take the social studies test. More information will come home soon regarding testing.

For children,

Phillip Reavis, Ph.D

Kindergarten Orientation April 30th

Oakview Elementary is hosting a Kindergarten Orientation for parents of students registered in the Oakview kindergarten program for the 2019-2020 school year. Students must be fully registered at the school in order for parents / guardians to attend. To register a student, please check the registration page on Oakview’s web site for the appropriate paperwork. School office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30-4:00. The orientation will be offered Tuesday, April 30, at 6:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Parents will learn more about Oakview’s kindergarten program and how to help their child make a smooth transition to school. Thank you in advance for making childcare arrangements. Please contact the school office at 355-7100 or 355-7114 for more information.

PTA General Membership Meeting May 6th @ 6 p.m.

PTA General Membership Meeting will be held Monday, May 6th, at 6 p.m in the Cafeteria. This year, Officer Robert Attaway, Resource Officer from JL Mann, will be our guest speaker to discuss various topics including vaping, e-cigarettes, and jewel usage among our tweens and teens. We feel this is a critical discussion for parents to inform themselves. For those of you with 5th graders, these issues will arise in Middle School and we want you to be aware; for those of you with younger children, we want you to know what older kids who might be babysitting for you might be bringing into your home. It will be an informative discussion followed by Budget and Officer Slate presentations and voting. In addition, we will announce the PTA's choice for Volunteer, Teacher, and Staff Person of the Year Awards! Your attendance is greatly appreciated as you learn about what things your students are facing and help us to confirm next year's budget and officers. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at
