A Message from Mr. Smith
Greetings from HMS!
This past week marked the mid-point of term I for students at HMS. Hard to believe, I know!
Very soon, Mr. Riordan will send an email outlining how to access your child’s mid-term grades. I encourage you to take this opportunity to talk with your middle-schooler about how the year is going so far. Look at what’s working and what could work better. Build on good habits and try to change the not-so-good ones.
As you look over these grades, please remember that this is only the midterm, and there is still plenty of time to improve, if need be. That is the purpose of the progress grades; to give students and families a “heads-up”.
If you would like to arrange for a conference with a teacher, please contact our main office and they will help you do so.
Calling All Veterans!
HMS is proud to announce its first Veterans Day Assembly & Breakfast! Under the leadership of 8th grade teacher Jennifer Driscoll and her US History & Civics students, this event will take place on November 10th at 8:30 am. If you are a Veteran, or know a Veteran (family, friend, neighbor), please fill out the form below to register for the event. Due to space constrictions, this event is limited to Veterans and students. Veterans will be treated to breakfast following the assembly. If you would like to contribute to this event, please Venmo @HMSPTO-1103 and note “Veterans Day”.

Pumpkin Carving
Would your child like to learn how to carve a pumpkin like a pro and make creations like the one shown here?
On Thursday October 27th from 2:00 - 4:00 Mrs. Flaherty will teach a small group of students the techniques and skills needed to carve pumpkins into works of art. Students need to sign up in room 305 as space is limited. Students will also need to bring a pumpkin big enough to carve that day and schedule a ride home at 4:00.
It's sure to be a "spook-tacular" time!
Hingham Public Schools Chain of Communication
Have you ever had a question about school, but didn't know who to ask? Need help with something but you weren't sure who to turn to? The Chain of Communication section of the Hingham Public Schools website will point you in the right direction. Whether it's a question about grades, athletics, special education services, or even bus routes, this page will tell you who to ask. We hope you find this addition to our website helpful.
