Miss Sullivan's Weekly News

Last week, in science, we had our introduction to circuits. Using the snap circuits, students were challenged to create a circuit using the fewest number of parts to light a light. They then added a switch to control the flow of electricity. Finally, if time permitted, they built a circuit with two lights in order to investigate the difference between serial and parallel circuits. We will continue that investigation this week. One of our scientists went home and built her own circuit... with lights, music, and an alarm! It was very cool!
In math, we are continuing to explore fractions. We started with identifying fractions, then moved to equivalent fractions. From there, we will move to comparing and ordering fractions.
Be sure and check your child's folder today for graded papers and information. Science papers go in our science notebooks so you won't see many of those come home.
