SBAC Updates

Sue, Nora, and I met today to develop a bell schedule for CASSPP testing. Next week, we will be creating the assessment schedule, and both the bell and assessment schedule will be shared out with the staff next week. We will be testing differently than we tested last year so that ELA and Math teachers will be administering the assessments in their classrooms instead of students testing in groups in the labs.

We are also beginning to put our accommodations and designated supports into TOMS so that students (EL's/IEP's & 504's) can begin using them while they're taking the interim assessments.

Our SBAC testing will begin April 25th and go until May 15th. Training for staff will occur on Thursday, April 7th and Thursday, April 21st (if needed) during our scheduled T & L's.

Just a reminder that our SBAC assembly is scheduled for Friday, April 22nd. There will be competitions between students and staff, and we will be working on a video to the song "I'm Happy" by Pharrell Williams. See sample video at the following link to get some ideas

At the assembly, we will also be recognizing students who met or exceeded the standards in ELA and Math with t-shirts. I will also be ordering t-shirts for the staff to wear during testing with a smiley faced emoji on it. There will be student and staff incentives during testing and dress up days during the week of April 18th-22nd. A big "thank you" to our Leadership Team and Alex and George for helping us come up with some fun ideas for CASSPP testing!

T & L Rescheduled

I just learned that there is a conflict with Thursday's T & L. There is a District meeting on LACAP for teachers scheduled that afternoon, so we need to reschedule our T & L to Tuesday, March 8th. This meeting will be a review and check-in on Time to Teach

Odyssey of the Mind

Congratulations to the Wilson Warrior Odyssey of the Mind Team. The team went to the regional competition over the weekend and placed 6th in their division. They worked hard and represented us well. Give a high five to Hailey Phariss, Louella Clark, Jason Lucio-Lazaro, Edward Haney, Jordan Turner, Bethany Whittenburg, and Jessica Powell. Way to go, team! Thank you Mr. Bjarke for your work with the team!
