Art at the Primary School
http://pub.lucidpress.com/6a70da25-2a3e-4f6c-8885-8a3c1cdee82f/ Mrs. Thelan was kind enough to take these photos of the students' projects in order to share the wealth of talent and learning that takes place in those special 45 minutes a week.

This is a great time to incorporate Kindness Week and AntiBullying
Why choose Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's e-learning programs?
- When kids are healthy and safe they learn more.
- It's a cool and relevant way for students to learn with technology.
- Programs are developed in collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and align with National Health Education Standards.
- Research proves our programs are effective in producing positive changes in knowledge, attitude and behavior.
- Children's Hospital offers e-learning programs as part of our commitment to improving the health status of all children.
- http://fox6now.com/2013/09/29/new-technology-helps-children-learn-how-to-handle-bullying/ is a site where you can find oout more about ActNow and schools across the state have found it to be effective.
Ms. Kohnert and these two programs
Our school counselor works hard to incorporate themes into our school's curricula and the above are two examples of how we go beyond the 3 R's to make our schools terrific places to learn and play. ActNow has been in our schools for three years and we will continue with it over the next few weeks. We included a website for you to learn more about its content and how children learn about not being a bully, how to stop bullying and what to do if you have been bullied. The Kindness Week (2/29-3/4) underscores this as well.. Your support is invaluable! Thank You!
Primary School Book Fair is Coming next Week
I was wondering how we could get more parents to be a bigger part of the Book Fair and here is a way to do that. The link for volunteering is: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040c4ea4ac23a13-2016
Aeroponic Gardening Kicked Off in Merton Primary
In Mrs. Brown's 5k, aeroponic gardening is about to take off. With the expert help of Mrs. Kuptz, and former 5K teacher, Mrs. Biondo, the children are in the beginning stages of planting seeds that will be transplanted into the tower in a couple of weeks to mature and eventually be harvested to eat. We are in the process of purchasing another unit, with the help of some grant money, that will help our school to continue the growth of learning about plants.
The self-sustaining watering system is shown here.
The seeds to plant are soooo small.
Now we put them into special growing mixture to get them started.

Dr. Seuss' birthday is coming and so is the book fair and so is LIteracy Night! Can you believe how much fun reading can be? The window for learning to read is so important to our kids. I guess that is why we are always talking about it.
