A Message from Mrs. Booth
Dear Silver Springs Families,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Silver Springs Elementary! It is the belief and mission of everyone here to encourage all our students to Lead, Grow, and Inspire as we work together to unlock a world of opportunities. As the leaders of tomorrow we believe that we have the power to choose to be whatever we want to be!
I can't believe that I am already writing this year's first Eagle Express Newsletter! So much has taken place at Silver Springs this summer! ALL classrooms have been remodeled, the main office has moved to its new location, we will have a brand new media center and maker space, and the parking lot has been resurfaced.
As you have likely noticed, the construction is still underway, but will be wrapping up very soon. Therefore, we won't be able to host Open House until later in September. More information can be found later in this newsletter with specific dates and times for Open House.
We know you have many questions about the start of the school year. This newsletter will hopefully answer some of those questions, classroom teachers will be sending additional communication home to families with pertinent information to begin the school year, and more information will be sent next week.
We are thrilled to welcome ALL our students back to in-person learning. We are looking forward to getting back to some of our traditions and welcoming our entire community back to school. With that said, we know that returning to school may be challenging for some. Therefore, we plan to spend the first couple of weeks of school focusing on the social and emotional well-being of everyone. Classrooms will focus on community building activities as well as establishing routines and procedures in order to create a classroom environment where all students feel a sense of belonging, and where all students feel safe, loved, and respected.
Over the last 18 months, we've learned so much from our students about resilience. As we look forward to the 2021-2022 school year, we know there will be ups and down and highs and low, but no matter what, together we will do great things!
Thank you for your continued patience and grace as we embark on our newest journey together. We are looking forward to kicking off our school year on Tuesday, September 7th which is a full day of school! On behalf of the staff of Silver Springs Elementary, welcome to the 2021-22 school year! We are looking forward to the energy that students bring each and every day!
Katie Booth

Annual Online Registration
All new and returning families: It's time to fill out your required online Annual Registration!
Every year, all families are required to fill out the digital Annual Registration for each student. Families may complete these forms through Parent Connection: https://sisweb.resa.net/Northville/ParentPortal.
Through this process you will be asked to update your student’s emergency contact information, home address and health information, review our technology use policy and student handbooks, learn more about PTSA/PTA, access the web store and much more.

Many of the most commonly asked questions can be found on our FAQs page (located in the upper right hand corner of Parent Connection.) If you have further questions, please email the helpdesk at parentportal@northvilleschools.org.

Northville Public Schools 2021-2022 COVID-19 Mitigation Plan
Board Approved: August 24, 2021
Effective: August 26, 2021
The Northville Public Schools 2021-22 COVID-19 Mitigation Plan, as described below and approved at the Regular Meeting of the NPS Board of Education on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, is a continuation of the “Swiss Cheese” approach to mitigation measures. This plan includes Universal Indoor Masking for students, staff, and visitors when community transmission of COVID-19 is at the moderate, substantial and/or high transmission level as defined by CDC metrics, with consideration given to our local community data, along with county data. If our community moves into low transmission that is sustained for a period of time (i.e. 7-14 days), masks would be strongly recommended, but not required.

Robotics is Back!!!
Dear Silver Springs Parents,
Robotics is back!!!!
The Theme this year is CARGO CONNECT . Please check out https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/fll/game-and-season
We are offering an informational meeting on Wednesday, September-01 at 5:30-6:30pm on the Silver Springs Playground.
Based on the changed rules for 2021, we will be using the allowed robotic elements for Grades 1-5:
-Grades 1-3 LEGO WeDo 2.0
-Grades 4-5 LEGO Spike Prime or Mindstorm
If you do have a 1st Grader please come to our meeting. We would like to discuss with you the best option. In the past we used the WeDo 2.0 also for K-1, but this year the rules have changed, and we won't be offering a K robotic team.
The season will run for
Grade 4-5 from Mid September to Mid November. The competition will be held around Saturday, Nov-13 or Nov-20.
Grade 2-4 will start End September-28 and we are planning to join the EXPO on Saturday, Dec-11 (This is non-competitive, but a lot of fun)
Once we get things started, we are planning to meet on Tuesdays from
6-7pm for Grade 1-3 and
6-7:30pm for Grade 4-5 at Silver Springs.
Grade 4-5 please plan to meet twice a week 4 weeks before the competition. We are planning Thursday for Thursday 6-7:30pm.
Any Questions? Please email silversprings.robotics@gmail.com
We need coaches!!!!!! Every Team of 4-6 students needs two adult coaches.
So please consider volunteering as a coach. It's fun to build and explore with your child and teammates with the Lego Challenge set. If you can follow a LEGO instruction and you can load an app on Chromebook or tablet, you can coach.!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun with your child and try something new.
Any questions? Please email silversprings.robotics@gmail.com
Help wanted!!!!
Our kids are getting older and we have only one child left in Silver Springs
We would like to start a transition to a new team lead to take over next year. Are you interested? Please send us an email silversprings.robotics@gmail.com
