From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
Our Open House committee has been working diligently over the last few months to plan for our January 30th Open House. I am excited to be able to open our doors and allow prospective families to come tour our building and see the amazing things our school has to offer. Please spread the word by sharing our Open House posts on Social Media and by telling all your friends/colleagues about the reasons your family chose St. John the Baptist for your children. Anyone who refers a family to our Open House will be entered in a drawing for a $500 tuition voucher.
Catholic Schools Week will run January 31st-February 4th. Next week we will share the events/themes for each day so that students and their families can prepare. I am excited to celebrate our students and our school during Catholic Schools Week. I am proud to be a part of this school, and I hope that my leadership will continue to help our school improve and grow during my time as principal.
I thank you for your commitment to our school and your children’s education.

CoGat & Iowa Testing Feb. 22-Mar. 7
It is imperative that students not be tardy or have any outside appointments during morning hours on these testing dates.
Students that are tardy or coming in late from an appointment will not be permitted to go to their classroom until the next testing session begins. All missed tests will need to be made up as soon as possible.
Inclement Weather Plans
Inclement weather plans will be announced on the radio/television/social media as follows:
1. We will follow Northwest Schools. If Northwest Local Schools are closed, we will be closed.
2. Two hour delay. This means school will start two hours later than usual. Transportation will begin two hours later as well. If your transportation is provided by Fairfield or Mt. Healthy, you will need to verify that they are on a two hour delay as well. Otherwise, their transportation schedule will not match that of Northwest Local and your student(s) may not be provided a morning bus.
3. Early Dismissal. This announcement would mean the district would be transporting private and public students home early. Parents need to have a contingency plan in order to deal with this circumstance. In addition, parents will need to remain in contact with local media if adverse weather conditions occur during the school day to determine if Northwest Schools is going to transport students home early. The announcement that will go to the media will be “Northwest Schools will Dismiss Early”. The length of the early dismissal will also be announced, such as "1-hour" or 2 hours".

Spring Soccer
Please register at https://sports.bluesombrero.com/stjab/ by February 11.
St. John's will be offering SAY Rec Soccer for boys and girls playing Swarmers (2016), Passers (2014 & 2015) and Wings (2012 & 2013). These teams will play an 8 game season in Northwest SAY. There is no post season tournament in the Spring.
St. John's also now offers Premier soccer for those who want to experience club level competition. Our teams play in Select leagues such as Cardinal Premier and Buckeye Premier and are eligible to enter various tournaments. This program is coach driven and will typically require a tryout. Keep in mind there is a bigger time commitment with this option and the cost is significantly higher. Right now we have a U9(2013) girls team and are in the process of putting together a U9(2013) boys team. We hope to form more teams moving forward but need coaches and parents to help lead the charge. If you would like more information on our Premier program please contact Tom Osborn.
We will continue to have Academy Training for Swarmers and Passers. This training would be in addition to the teams weekly practice and is designed to give those kids an additional opportunity to work on foot skills, speed and agility, etc. The Academy training will be held on Monday evenings. U.K. International Soccer will run the training sessions. Academy Training is optional but highly encouraged.
***Also this Spring***
- We will offer an 8 week Lollipop training program for 2017 and 2018 boys and girls. This training will be with U.K. International Soccer and will take place on Friday evenings at St. John's April 1-May 20. Registration for this will be separate. More details to follow.
- U.K. International Soccer will be conducting a Day Camp at St. John's during our Spring Break. This is tentatively set for Friday April 22 and will be free of charge.
***A one-time family fee of $50 will be assessed per account at the beginning of each calendar year. The family fee helps to cover capital improvements and operating expenses of our athletic facilities.
***We are looking for volunteers to help with our SAY program. We currently have no one in place to coordinate for the Fall season. Please consider volunteering so our kids can continue to play Soccer at St. John's.
