Front Office Notes
Patriot Nation,
Good afternoon! There are a few updates this week. PSATs are on Wednesday October 11. This is for 8th-11th grades. Seniors are allowed to use the day for community service and not required to attend school that day. The Fall Play, Puffs, will be in full swing with shows Oct. 12th & 13th at 7pm, and the 14th at 2pm.
Next week Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please be sure to have conversations with students and check on grades and standing via Harmony. If there are questions and you are unable to attend or would like a longer time frame for discussion, please reach out to those teachers ahead of time.
There were many athletic accomplishments this week as you scroll down to the sports section!
As of this week, all Fall Sports have completed or will be entering State Tournament action. Good luck to all of our Patriot Student-Athletes and coaches!
Best Regards,
Seeger Administration
Important Message for Parents of Seniors
The state of Indiana launched a new program at the end of last school year called "Your Path to College". This program pulls students' overall GPA and SAT scores from ScholarTrack and then matches students with Indiana colleges and universities that the student would qualify for. You should be receiving a letter in the mail from the Indiana Pre-admissions: "Your Path to College" program. This letter should include the Indiana colleges or universities your student has been pre-admitted to. It also includes the next steps for your student if they would like to apply to one of the colleges or universities listed. Students must apply to any college or university listed on their letter.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email Tasha Ploss at nploss@msdwarco.k12.in.us.

October is not only National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but it is also National Healthy Lung Month. It is important to educate your children on the importance of keeping their lungs as healthy as possible and ways to protect their lungs. One of the ways parents can help kids' lungs stay healthy is by teaching them the dangers of vaping and smoking. Tobacco manufacturers market a variety of vape flavors to kids as a way to make kids lifetime customers.
Vaping is the inhalation of vapor from an e-cigarette or "vape". Vapes can contain marijuana or nicotine. The effects of vaping include anxiety and depression, addiction, cancer, chronic bronchitis, sleep problems, life-threatening lung damage , and increased likelihood of smoking in the future. Nicotine also affects brain development, making it harder to learn and concentrate. Some changes in brain development are permanent and can affect mood and impulse control as an adult.
Some of the ways to quit vaping/smoking are listed below:
- Get rid of all vaping/smoking devices.
- Pick a day you want to quit and let family know so that you can be supported.
- Decide why you want to quit and write it down or put it in your phone and look at it each time you get the urge to vape/smoke.
- Use tools such as This is Quitting or text DITCHVAPE to 88709 for free help and tools for parents.
- Utilize free apps and tools from Smokefree.gov.

Caleb Odle
This week’s Seeger Junior High Student of the Week is Caleb Odle chosen by Mr. Collins.
Mr. Collins tells me what he looks for when nominating a student for Student of the Week.
“I look for a student that is working hard and paying attention. That is doing all their work and asking questions when they don't understand something to improve upon their understanding.”
Mr. Collins also tells me what Caleb does well in his class.
“Caleb pays really good attention and is working hard to make sure he understands things. He asks questions when he doesn't understand, and participates well in class.”
I spoke with Caleb and he told me his favorite part of Mr. Collins class.
“My favorite part of Mr. Collins class is math, which is my favorite subject.”
Caleb also told me about how it feels to be student of the week
“To be student of the week it makes me feel cool.”
Congratulations to Caleb and good luck to anybody else who wants to be Student of the Week.

Football
Friday marked what was essentially the WRC Championship on a brisk Senior Night at Seeger High School! The game was what was expected. After a first quarter push at 8-8, the Patriots went ahead 14-8 with a touchdown pass with less than 5 minutes in the 2nd quarter. The 2pt conversion was good for a 16-8 lead. The Wildcats fired back with under a minute before half with a TD pass of their own and also matched the 2pt conversion for an even 16-16 score going into halftime. Seeger received the 2nd half kickoff but the drive came up empty. South Vermillion responded with 6 points off of another TD pass about 3 minutes into the 3rd quarter. The PAT was good to give the Wildcats a 23-16 edge. Our Patriots kept fighting and found the endzone on the ground halfway through the 3rd. Seeger took a chance to go up a pt by going for a 2pt conversion. Unfortunately, the conversion failed therefore Seeger trailed 23-22. The stage was then set for a great 4th quarter. Defenses on both sides were tested and offenses were challenged. South Vermillion found the endzone on the ground again with about 6 minutes left in the 4th, going up two scores. Seeger would not be able to find the scoreboard again for the remainder of the game. South added an extra score to finish the game. The final score was 37-22 South Vermillion.
Seeger is 6-2 Overall and 5-1 in WRC play. They will take on NV next week for the final regular match-up of the season. With a win over NV, Seeger can secure the 2nd spot in the WRC. A loss would share the 2nd place standings with NV and FC (assuming FC beats PH).
