Dear Midland Families,
As we bring one year to a close and start planning for the coming school year, our staff will soon begin the important task of placing students with new teachers for next year. If you wish to request special placement of your child please submit your rationale in writing to Mrs. Dawson by Thursday, May 27th (no verbal requests will be considered). Requests will be considered on the basis of what is best for each child and the learning environment of the group. All requests will be given thoughtful consideration, but due to keeping classes balanced, it may not be possible for all requests to be granted.
Currently we are planning to resume our normal school year schedule in the fall, with students back in their classes 5 days each week, with our early release Wednesday schedule. The calendar for next year is attached. As we are planning for the coming year, we will do our best to communicate any anticipated changes with you.
Stay safe and keep learning!
It's great to be a MUSTANG!

Please be sure to schedule a conference with the teacher by clicking on the conference button below. Be sure to first choose your student's homeroom teacher and the date and time for your preferred conference time. On the calendar, you will add your information, including if you want a zoom or in person conference as well as if a translator is needed.
Greetings Midland Mustang families. As we look forward to a more "normal" school year in 2021/2022, please remember that students must have up to date vaccinations or a valid (physician documented) exemption on file to start school next year. Please take some time this summer to make a well child visit with your pediatrician or family medicine provider and get those shots up to date! Do you have any questions about your student's vaccines? Please give me a call at (253)298-4523 or email me at: pthomas@fpschools.org. I'm really looking forward to seeing all our students in the fall!

Are you moving?
Thank you!
Attention Parents of Students with District Releases
Now is the time to get your releases! The deadline for school choice/releases to have your children considered for placement at Midland next year is May 31st.
Out of District - If you live outside of the Franklin Pierce district boundaries please click here to submit your Choice Transfer form. Please note that if you live in the Bethel School District, you must contact them directly to get your release. Once you receive the release, you will need to send it to our office (Bethel does not automatically send it to us).
With-In District - If your child attended Midland on a within district transfer, please click here and complete the Within District Transfer Request form.
Overload students – If your child is currently enrolled at Midland on overload from another school in our district, you must enroll as soon as possible in your home school. This ensures that your child will be included in the spring placement process. Please remember that your child will be withdrawn from Midland at the end of the 2020-21 school year.
Daycare - If your child attends Midland for daycare purposes, the daycare forms can be located here.
Registration for the 2021-22 School Year:
Registration for new students enrolling in the 2021-22 school year is now open. We will be registering only new kindergarten through 5th grade students who live within our attendance boundaries, or have daycare in our area. Current students are automatically enrolled for next year, with the exception of overload students who will return to their home schools for 2021-22. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years of age by August 31, 2021. All registrations will be done on-line at www.fpschools.org . Click on the red "Enrollment" circle, then click "Enroll for 2021-22", and complete the registration paperwork. Enrollees must attach a copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence during the registration process.
Midland wants to STOP Covid at the door!
Just a reminder that you need to complete a health screening questionnaire EVERY morning by 8:30 am. This survey will come to your email, but you can also set it up to be sent as a text to your phone, for easy completion. If you have not filled out the form, your child will not be allowed to enter class until we have heard from you to answer questions, and have your child's temperature taken. Please see the button below for specific information regarding the Daily Health Check, as well as what to do if you are having trouble receiving the email.
PLEASE do your part before school, so that your child can go to class when they arrive.
- Students will be required to wear a mask on the bus, in the halls, in class, and at recess.
- Students will wash hands and use hand sanitizer throughout the day.
- Students will sit 6 feet apart in the classroom.
If your child has been exposed to COVID, or if they are showing symptoms of illness, you may not send them to school until they have been quarantined and symptom free for 14 days. Teachers will provide work for students during this time. We are counting on everyone to keep Midland safe for all students and staff. Thank you!
Midland PTA Needs YOU!
The PTA is a group of parents and family members who meet for an hour once a month. They create ideas for activities and provide support to our classrooms. PTA can be a very FUN opportunity! While the past few years we have focused on fundraisers, it woud be great to have more familiy activities and celebrations. We want to focus on more family involvement and non-traditional events which celebrate cultures and supports for families.
If you are interested, please email Mrs. Dawson (pdawson@fpschools.org) or call the school office. Training is provided and there is lots of support for our PTA.
Thank you in advance for considering how you can participate and keep our PTA!
