Back to School Information and Events

Dear Crippen Families,

We are so excited to see our astronauts back at school for the 2021-2022 school year! After an unprecedented school year, we are ready to welcome and educate our students back for a fun-filled year of learning. We want each student to know they are cared for and grow at least one academic year. We are working hard to plan out our instructional plans to do this as well as all of our neat extracurricular activities and social emotional learning lessons through 7 Mindsets.

We look forward to working alongside you to make this the best school year ever for our students.

Your Proud Principal,

Crystal Mayes

Meet our new Assistant Principal Mayra Andrade!

Hello Parent, Students, and Staff! My name is Mayra Andrade. It is my pleasure to serve as the new assistant principal of Robert L. Crippen Elementary. I am delighted to return to Crippen and work with the wonderful staff, amazing students, and committed families of the Crippen Community.

I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies. After that, I earned my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University. My most recent work experiences were as a Bilingual Dyslexia Specialist and as an EL Instructional Coach. Prior to that, I taught 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade in Aldine ISD and New Caney ISD.

I am excited about the wonderful possibilities that this new school year will bring and proud to be part of the Crippen family!

Thank you to the Kingwood Kroger, Kelly Graham, and Mrs. Woolsey!

A great big thank you to Crippen parent, Kelly Graham, and the Kroger in Kingwood for the generous donation of 600 bottles of hand sanitizer. We greatly appreciate the effort that was put in by Mrs. Woolsey for coordinating with them on getting the hand sanitizer donated, picked up, and delivered to our school.

Counselor's Corner

Crippen Elementary is excited to implement the 7 Mindsets curriculum with our little astronauts during the 2021-2022 school year. We previewed the program last year and are ready to fully implement it this year. Based on the foundational premise that every child is extraordinary, the program positively impacts school climate by addressing social and emotional issues and facilitating character development.

The 7 Mindsets are:

  • Everything Is Possible
  • Passion First
  • We Are Connected
  • Attitude Of Gratitude
  • 100% Accountable
  • Live To Give
  • The Time Is Now

The 7 mindsets are a research-driven program designed to help students have a comprehensive blueprint for happiness, intentionality, and success.

This curriculum will be incorporated during their morning meeting that is held from 7:30-7:50 AM. I look forward to an awesome year

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Ms. West at wwest@newcaneyisd.org

7 Mindsets Facebook Portal for Parents

Our students spent the past year learning about the 7 Mindsets. This year we want to bring the parents on board with this powerful program! You can join the 7 Mindsets Facebook group. This forum is for you, parents of 7 Mindsets students, to share how you incorporate the mindsets at home and in your community. You can post your stories, photos, videos, ideas, and questions to help each other maximize the impact of the 7 Mindsets program for each student and one another.
