Important Updates
- Tuesday: 2nd Period 9th Grade Class Meeting
- Tuesday - The Leadership Meeting has been cancelled so departments can meet
- Wednesday: 6th Period 10th grade Class Meeting & Faculty Meeting on SLO's with Dr. Shirk in the Library - All Faculty Members
- Thursday: 2nd period Junior Class meeting & AP Teacher Meeting in Library
- Friday: 2nd period Senior Class meeting
Department Meeting: Departments will meet on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Please discuss how each department can contribute to the SIP and help to monitor the SIP.
SLO's - There will be a faculty meeting on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in the Library. Dr. Shirk will be sharing about SLO's.
Class Meeting Schedule: - Class Meetings will take place this week to review school expectations, responsibilities, class information, and Homecoming updates.
- September 2 - Freshmen - Period 2
- September 3 - Sophomores - Period 6
- September 4 - Juniors - Period 2
- September 5 - Seniors - Period 2
- Class Advisers will be creating a class meeting schedule that will be released shortly
Principal/Teacher meetings - I would like to meet with each teacher for about 10-15 minutes to see how we can support you as a teacher, to hear about your focus for this year, and to simply check in with each staff member. Mrs. Ludy will be scheduling these meetings, if you have a day/time that works best for you, please contact Mrs. Ludy. I hope to meet with each teacher by the end of October if not sooner.

On opening day, the faculty worked through the initial stages of our SIP (School Improvement Plan) this school year. Click Here for the Google presentation that was shared during the SIP time of the faculty meeting.
1. Standards Aligned Curriculum - Establish a district system that fully ensures consistent implementation of standards aligned curricula across all schools for all students.
- SLO's (Student Learning Objectives)
- Align Keystone Courses
- Design Performance Tasks
- Implementation of Math program with fidelity
2. Effective Instructional Practices - Establish a district system that fully ensures the consistent implementation of effective instructional practices across all classrooms in each school.
- 1-1 Implementation - integrate technology into at least one unit of study in the Second Semester.
- Professional Learning Communities - Data Teams
- Writing - Expand the PGHS Writing focus into the 11th grade
- Increase AP Scores
3. Interventions for At-Risk Students - Establish a district system that fully ensures students who are academically at risk are identified early and are supported by a process that provides interventions based upon student needs and includes procedures for monitoring effectiveness.
- Mentoring At-Risk Students - MARS Program of mentoring and interventions
- Tutoring after school on Wednesdays
- Attendance and discipline data review
