From the Desk of the PTO President Amy Vandenbergh
Good morning NBS!
We are so excited that our Fall Book Fair is up and running! Thank you to our book fair chairs, Melissa Gerber and Crystal McConnell for all your time this week. I also want to thank former chair, Maria Palumbo, for coming in and assisting in the set up. We so appreciate it.
Thank you also to all of you who have signed up to volunteer. Please see the SUG link below
https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/4090E4CABA728A3F85-fall
if you are interested. We could use some more help during those after school shifts and on Friday for takedown. With enough volunteers, that process could take 45 minutes! Also, as a reminder, all volunteers must submit the proper Covid documentation. Any questions, please reach out to me or Dr. West.
We are also excited for our PTO meeting this Wednesday evening at 7pm via ZOOM. Please look for the link to be shared with you via email on Wednesday morning.
Have a wonderful week!
It's Here and We're Back IN PERSON!!! NBS BOOK FAIR!
November 15-19, the Book Fair is back at NBS!
The book fair will run online at the same time as our in-person fair for those who aren't able to make it in.
Please help make our book fair a success and sign up to volunteer! Even if you can't stay the whole time, coming part of the time will still be a huge help. Please review the available slots below. If you had signed up to volunteer for your class, this is where you can "officially" sign up for the book fair. Set up and take down is a great way to get to know other parents at the school and is always FUN!
Also, Please take note that due to the new State mandate, anyone who is inside the school for longer than 30 minutes, MUST fill out and turn in a google doc showing either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours. Thank you for understanding!

Looking for a great way to give back? Packs of Plenty is Back (P.O.P)
Hi Everyone!
We hope that you all had a great summer and things are off to a great fall season. We are so sorry for the delay in getting information out to you. With the students back in school full time, there are many new and always changing rules, regulations and logistics to consider. After a strange 18 months, the district was trying to figure out where the biggest needs in the district are and where and how we should begin packing.
That all being said, we are finally ready to get back to work and start packing! We will be going back to our original schedule of once weekly, packings on Thursday AMs. The location this year is the District 220 Building at 310 James Street, Barrington. We will begin at 8am by unpacking boxes and setting up the assembly line. Packing will begin at 9AM and should be completed by 10AM. As in years past, we will need one volunteer to deliver the bags back to each elementary school directly after the packing.
**We will NOT require a "sign up” prior to packing anymore. You may come when it is convenient for you without any prior commitment.
Attention 4th & 5th Grade Families!
We will have a Classroom Spelling Bee in a month, the final four will move onto the Vocabulary round, and then the final two will participate in the Whole School Spelling Bee!
Pull out the Kleenex Box 5th Grade Parents
Dear 5th Grade Parents,
This school year, the yearbook will be including a history or flashback page with pictures of the 5th graders from kindergarten through 5th grade in a special "Spotlight on 5th graders" section of the yearbook. If you have any pictures of the kids together or individually from activities at school including any you have received from their teachers, please send to the yearbook email: nbsyearbook@yahoo.com - please include 5th grade flashback page in the subject line.
We will also be honoring our graduating 5th graders with messages from parents to their students in the yearbook. These are in honor of their graduation from Elementary School to Middle School, marking an important milestone in their lives. All 5th grade parents are welcome to submit one baby through K photo and/or message to your student. This should be a brief message (up to a couple sentences).
Sample message:
"We are so proud of the accomplishments you have made so far! Good luck next year in Middle School!" Love Mom, Dad and Sister
Also please send the baby photos and/or message to NBSYearbook@yahoo.com and include the student's name and teacher in the subject.
Please send all photos and/or messages by Monday, January 31, 2022.
Thank you,
Julie Watts, Krista Reilly and LeeAnn Chang
Fundraising Information
Welcome Back, Colts!
I will be your VP of Fundraising this year, and we are looking forward to offering some unique and low-pressure fundraising opportunities for this school year. We are kicking off the school year with our Spiritwear Sale! All of the information for that is provided below.
One of our easiest fundraisers each year is to enroll in Amazon Smile! If you login to your regular account through www.smile.amazon.com, you can select Parent Teacher Organization of North Barrington School as your charity. We are a registered 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. Whenever you order through your Amazon Smile Account (now available through the mobile app!), a percentage of your purchase will be directly donated to the NBS PTO.

The North Barrington PTO proudly presents Cub Scout Pack 229 – a “family scouting” pack - that welcomes all Boys and Girls from our community, K-5th grade; where our motto is DO YOUR BEST!
This year our goals are focused on getting back together as a Pack!
1. Re-invigorate our kid’s joy of scouting now that we have a roadmap for in-person scouting.
2. Use one of the best and safest tools, the outdoors, to get together as much as possible
3. Refocusing on the Cub Scout Oath and Law to foster the scouting spirit in the kids.
We invite you and your child to join us for our first Pack meeting where you can learn more about our Pack and our plans for the 2021-2022 Scouting Year.

Letter from the Treasurer
We are looking forward to a great school year.
Due to changes within the district portal, we made some adjustments to our accounting process. This year, you can now pay your NBS PTO Membership Dues through Infinite Campus as part of your registration fees OR via the following link (membership, yearbook and help another student): https://barrington220.revtrak.net/b220-pto-menu/pto-nb/nb-pto-membership/#/list
The PTO Membership Dues are $15.00 per family and are optional. Membership dues help to pay for field day, assemblies, author visits, family nights, interactive habitat and much more. Fundraising dollars make up the balance. As we kick off the new school year, we are excited to host events and provide support to the students, teachers and staff at NBS. Our first two events of the year (Popsicles with the Principal and the Kindergarten Playdate) were so much fun and we look forward to hosting many more fun events throughout the school year. These funds help support our school and your child(ren)!
The “Help Another Student” donation helps provide school supplies, yearbooks and other necessities to students at NBS.
If you have any questions about PTO Membership Dues, Helping Another Student, etc., please reach out to Courtney Olson at courtney@elevatedsolutionsgroup.net
Thank you!
