Thanks to a partnership between the Governor’s Workforce Board, RIDE, and Skills for Rhode Island's Future, we're excited to announce that the application for the PrepareRI Internship is now open. Rising seniors can apply through April 15, for the opportunity to be placed in a paid, six- to eight-week internship with one of 100 leading employers in the state.
Skills for Rhode Island's Future will help select students and will match them with employers for the summer of 2018. Applications will be accepted online only.
We hope to continue to grow this program as a way to scale up career readiness activities in a way that meets the needs of our state's employers and is also aligned with the work of our PK-12 schools. Encourage students to apply for this exciting opportunity before the April 15 deadline!

- The Annual Tomorrow Fund Stroll will take place on Sunday, April 8th at Garden City. Students will earn 4 hours community service hours for registering and completing the walk. - The Cranston afterschool programs hosted in Bain Middle School, Gladstone Elementary, and Edgewood Highlands are participating in our second year of STEM Mentoring. A program awarded to us by the Sea Research Foundation partnered with Mystic Aquarium and First Pic.This program introduces STEM to elementary aged students through fun, hands-on project learning. We need at least 6 volunteer mentors at each of our two elementary schools, Edgewood and Gladstone. Mentoring duties include working with a group of 4 students and assisting them with their projects, helping to set up and clean up all under the guidance and supervision of a certified teacher.
Becoming a STEM mentor not only gives a student volunteer hours, but it also provides them with positive life-changing experiences. They will also be granted the opportunity to participate in our summer camp programs, free field trips, and so much more.
For more information about this program, feel free to call 401-270-8718.
- The annual Stillhouse Cove Shoreline Clean-up to be held on April 28, 2018, from 10 a.m. to noon. This will take place right down the street from Centennial House on Narragansett Boulevard. Please see Mrs. Tejada if you are interested in signing up.
