Administrators Communication Corner
We are especially proud of our RMS Team and students as we had a fantastic completion of the first week of school! I am also thankful to all that participated in the Lip-Sync Battle or supervision of students during the school-wide assembly, what great fun that was! Moving into next week, there are a few things to be mindful of as we prepare to dig deeper into the school year. Establishing a highly effective school culture is essential and ensuring it happens within the first two weeks school is critical to lasting change! As we prepare to share the importance of college and career readiness with our students, let's think of the simple things we can do to to build the culture we want. Therefore, by the end of the week, let’s ensure all classroom doors are decorated with colleges you have attended. Check out Mr. Fuller’s door if you need ideas! To keep in the PBIS spirit, a select team of professionals will judge each door’s merit and will pick the top three doors to receive a prize of outstanding value! Let the College and Career Readiness Contest Begin!!!
As we know, culture is taught. We ask that teachers and staff use the PBIS Matrix as a teaching tool, so students understand and can model the expected school-wide behaviors we have developed. An example of this is when you see students running in the hall, stop them and remind them about Hallway expectations. Coach Jones was observed doing this last week, when she asked the student who was running to go back and show us the correct way to be Navigational, way to go Coach Jones! Please also share with students that they are expected to walk on the right side of the hallway.
We are sorry that student individual binders have not been passed out yet. We are are waiting for the tabs for the binders to arrive this week. Once we have the tabs, we will ask that Advisory teachers pick up binders for their class in the office. In the meantime, here is a short assignment for each advisory teacher.
Advisory Class Assignment Tuesday, August 20, 2019 : Please take a few minutes to let students know that they will be receiving an RMS AVID Binder. Show them the expectations for use of the binder, emphasizing the importance of being organized. Three slides about organization has been shared in the bulletin, review them first. Show the YouTube video link on the newsletter after reviewing what the “O” in WICOR is all about. All teachers are encouraged to support students with this process, so periodic check of student binders will be important as the year progresses.
Our PBIS Rewards Tool is being looked at to ensure compatible with our student ID Cards (AAMSCO software). Once we have the system ready to go, we will show staff what the process looks like for rewarding students. We hate to lose the momentum for PBIS, so we will have the office work on paper bucks as we wait for the technology piece to come in. We should have copies of bucks ready to go by Wednesday. Students should save the bucks for the opening of the school store, which will be ready in 10 school days.
Heads Up Reminders:
First Two Weeks of School Duty - We ask that all teachers support our team for duties for the first two weeks of school. Ms. Banks will be sharing the actual duty dates for staff this week. Thank you in advance for your support and commitment to our students. https://drive.google.com/open?id=125ABRggbTuxxEfIf19Sya85rukASoLjV

Classroom Walk-Through Look-For...
Professional Practices
Walk-Throughs
During an informal walk-through, here are some areas our administration team will be looking for. It is important to note that we don't expect to see each area as we walk-through. We may be in the room for 10 minutes or less. It is a brief snapshot. We welcome opportunities to further discuss the walk-through tool as it supports student achievement. Once we submit a walkthrough, you will receive an email notification of direct access to view the feedback.
