5 Things to Know about WNHS

March 1, 2019

Spring Sports are Underway!

This week, all our Spring Sports have started practicing --- indoors! This isn't what we would have hoped to say, but since we still have snow, everyone is competing for the prime indoor space for their practices. I know that some of your students are getting here very early, or staying late to practice. With any luck, after the projected cold of this weekend, that will be it for Winter and our weather luck will change. WNHS has presented a strong sports presence this year, and we are certain we will continue this through the coming months. Our first "official" Spring contests are:

  • Boys Baseball: Thursday, March 14, Home against Belvidere North;
  • Girls Softball: Monday, March 18, Home against Round Lake;
  • Boys Tennis: Wednesday, March 20, Away against Belvidere North;
  • Track and Field: Girls March 5, Boys March 6, both away vs. Sycamore High School.

We feel a monster warming trend coming on!!!! Go THUNDER!

Thunder Basketball competes Tonight for Regional Title!

Come out tonight and support our boys in their Regional Championship game. The game is at Genoa Kingston, against Genoa Kingston, starting at 7 PM. Price of admission is $5 for everyone. Our boys really need fan support because Genoa Kingston will have an unusual home court advantage. Phone a friend, find a ride - we need your support!

Come on our College Trip!

Woodstock North will be sponsoring a college trip on March 20. Any Junior that is in good academic standing is eligible for the trip. Cost will be just $10 plus any food that the student would want to purchase for themselves. This is a great opportunity to see a large school, private school and smaller university that are very close to us. If you are interested in having your student go with us on this trip, please see your counselor or Amanda Harmer in the Main Office for permission slips and specific details. Come visit these colleges with us!

Summer School Registration Beginning Soon!

Our summer school plans are well underway for this coming session. Shown below is a link to all the information. Summer school has many options for students to both remediate, or make up credits, and advance credits. There are also opportunities for both on-line classes and in-class sessions. If you have any interest in attending, check out this brochure and then send your student in to talk with their counselor. All registration should flow through the counselors to ensure that your student is enrolling in the correct courses for their graduation pathway.
