Mr. Mauck's Musings
I would like to start off by congratulating the Girl's Swimming and Diving team for their finish at the State Meet. Nicole Fant was able to qualify for the finals on Saturday finishing 15th in the 50 Free and 14th in the 100 Back. Other finishers include the 200 Medley Relay - 18th - Nicole Fant, Lillian Polley, Kara Kurucz, and Linzi Vanmeter, the 200 Free Relay - 28th - Nicole Fant, Reagan Book, Adi Mehringer and Lillian Polley, the 400 Free Relay - 31st - Kara Kurucz, Reagan Book, Emerson Franzel, and Linzi Vanmeter, and individual qualifiers, Linzi Vanmeter - 31st (200 Free) and 32nd (100 Free), Adi Mehringer - 32nd (200 IM), Emerson Franzel - 31st (500 Free), and Lillian Polley - 31st (100 Breast). The girls had a great finish. I just found out that our JAG program won the local JAG competition and two students from Jasper will be competing at the state level.
Tonight is Senior night for the Boy's Basketball team as they take on the Pike Central Chargers. Come out tonight and show your support and appreciation to the seniors. The Winter Guard will be competing at Terre Haute South High School will be Saturday. Our choral department will be in Indy for the ISSMA State Choral Competition. Good luck to both groups at their competitions. Next week, Friday the Jazz Band members will be performing at the University of Louisville Jazz Festival. This is an all-day Jazz festival and a great experience for the kids. The band will also start the online section of the auction beginning on February 27th. The Notable Event dinner auction will be held on March 4th at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center.
Prom is just around the corner and students are reminded to sign up at school. The post-prom committee is searching for individuals that would be interested in donating to the event. There is information below if you would like to participate. JHS still has some prom dresses available to students that are interested. NE Dubois is also hosting a Prom Dress Giveaway Feb 17 & 24 2-5 main gym entrance. Dresses are free but they will also be accepting donations.
Dubois County Cares is hosting a Get-togamer activity. Information is listed below. Come check it out. JES and Ireland Elementary asked for a reminder about Kindergarten Round-up occurring in the schools. Please see the welcome in Spanish below.
School is in session on the 20th. It was our first snow make-up day. Congratulations to Landan Carver and Mrs. Kyla Beier as our student and staff of the week representatives.
Finally, I would like everyone to keep Boonville High School in their thoughts and prayers as they cope with the loss of a student.

Prom registration
Attention JHS Juniors & Seniors: If you plan to attend prom, pick up a prom registration form outside the attendance window. Forms may be turned in to Mrs. Keusch in Room 202. You can turn in forms before school, during passing periods, or after school.
**All prom registration forms are due Friday, March 17th!
Mrs. Keusch has Pre-Prom Formal Dinner registration forms available for those attending prom. The cost is $15 per person. Meal tickets will be sold on March 15th and 16th.
DCBHOF Scholarship Opportunity
Please post and advocate for seniors to apply for the local $1000 scholarship opportunity available only to Dubois County seniors by the Dubois County Business Hall of Fame (DCBHOF).
The county will be rewarding one winner with $1000 selected by the DCBHOF Committee. This group is dedicated along with the funders and supporters of Junior Achievement in Dubois County to ensure students are inspired and prepared to succeed in a global economy.

- Celebrated at the Hall of Fame event on April 13th breakfast with inducted laureates and families

We provide K-12 materials, programming, and collaboration with local volunteers to serve as mentors through the implementation.

Jasper Band Parent Notable Event Auction
Jasper Band Parent Notable Event Auction - SAVE THE DATES, for our fundraising event. The Notable Event dinner auction will be held on March 4th at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center with an online section to the auction beginning on February 27th. Each auction (online, silent, and live) will have its own exclusive items list that can be viewed on the auction site. The auction site can be found on Biddingowl.com. Details regarding how to access the site are included in the attachments. You do not have to register to view the site (just search for Jasper Band), but you will need to register at biddingowl.com in order to bid online. Again, all items will be listed online, cataloging what is available, but only specific items will be open to the online bidding option. Everyone is invited to join us online and bid, but please consider attending the in-person event on March 4th to make this a more successful event for the band and have the chance to bid on exclusive in-person-only items! Guidance Department
School Day SAT- on March 1 all Juniors will be taking the SAT test. This is a state requirement. There is no fee to take the test and students will automatically be registered.

Freshmen- Prime For Life Training
Sophomores- ASVAB Testing-(students will automatically be registered)
Juniors- SAT Testing-(students will automatically be registered)
Seniors- Community Service, Job Shadow, or College Visit
Seniors- You need to turn in a signed permission slip for the activity you will be doing on March 1. Community Service and Job Shadow permission slips are available in your Gov’t/Econ classes. College visit forms are available on the guidance website.
The Guidance Department will be having evening office hours from 5-7pm on Monday evenings starting on Feb. 13th. Call or email your guidance counselor if you would like to make an appointment.
On-line Health class. All students are required to earn a credit in Health(Unless they complete 2 years of BioMed). The registration form for Summer On-Line Health is on the JHS Guidance website under “Forms and Presentations”. Students may also start the on-line Health class right now and have until the end of the school year to complete the class. The cost of the class is $10.00. It will be available during the following school year as well.

BOOK BANTER FROM YOUR LIBRARY
New Books continue to arrive! The new titles can be found on the display table in the library window . Olivia Young is the winner of the January “guess the shredded book”. It was Breaking Dawn from the Twilight series. Congratulations, Olivia! The February contest is to guess the number of chocolate kisses in the jar to win the chocolate kisses. Also, if you have a book title you would like to see in our library, come and have it added to our wishlist! Another new book order will be placed soon. Finally, there are new valentine bookmarks, coloring sheets, sudoku, word searches and crossword puzzles available at checkout . Also, ask me about our used BOOK SALE!! We have many good, used books for sale. $1.00 for hardback books and $.50 for paperback books. As always, don’t skip checking your selection out at the front desk. And please be certain to return your books. RETURN OR RENEW at any time!
