Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

When your immune system attacks your thyroid

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, affects the thyroid and the rest of your body related to metabolism, like the digestive and circulatory system.

Weight gain is a common bodily response to this disease. Your metabolism slows down and becomes very low; fatigue begins to take over.

Your body will attempt to balance itself out by destroying your thyroid piece by piece like it's an invader, very similar to how the body reacts to bad bacteria and viruses.

- enlarged thyroid

- fatigue

- unexplained weight gain

- dry or rough skin

- hair loss

- joint stiffness

- muscle weakness

“The resulting inflammation from Hashimoto's disease, also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, often leads to an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism).” - Mayo Clinic

The only known beneficial method to treat Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is through synthetic hormone medication.
