Be here, be you, BELONG
FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Our School Community,
As I am easing into my first year as a full time Assistant Principal at Jerry Ross, I am learning about all the wonderful people that make up our school community. Ms. Linsley and I have been meeting with teachers individually to discuss teaching goals for this school year. I am so impressed with the level of knowledge, professionalism, and commitment each one of our teachers possess. I am also learning so much from Ms. Linsley. We share many of the same leadership values, but one that has recently come up is “power with,” instead of “power over.” We believe that commitment to students stems from collaboration and working towards common goals so that we can provide the best possible learning experience for our children.
Something new we are adding to the newsletter this year is “Fun Facts About…” where we will feature a few staff members each week. This is an opportunity to get to know everyone that works at Jerry Ross. Each and every role plays an integral part in making Jerry Ross such a special place to be. This week, we are featuring our amazing treasurer, Mrs. Lukas, secretary, Mrs. Dissette, as well as our dedicated nurse, Mrs. Horst. Please enjoy their fun facts below!
Along with teachers and students, parents are a crucial part of our school community. We appreciate all the ways parents support their child’s academic, social, and emotional needs. We are additionally grateful for the overwhelming generosity of our parents. We recently asked for donations to our teacher oasis room and we could not believe the amount of yummy treats that came our way!
Members of CAFÉ also go the extra mile to support our teachers and students. Thank you, CAFÉ, for all that you do. Just this morning we were surprised with coffee and pastries in the lounge. These small, kind gestures mean so much!
This year, we look forward to having increased parent involvement through volunteering opportunities, school events and programs.
Student of the Month
As we continue the tradition of Student of the Month, we want to tie in our S.P.A.C.E. theme to highlight all the ways our students are Socially, Physically, Academically, Culturally, and Emotionally fit. For the month of September, we will focus on the skill of being Socially fit. After obtaining feedback from both teachers and students, we have outlined criteria for selecting Student of the Month.
Students who are SOCIALLY FIT:
say hello to others and greet everyone
are friendly to everyone
show respect to teachers and classmates
actively participate in class
Our first Student of the Month breakfast will be held Friday, September 30th. This is always Ms. Linsley’s favorite day of the month!
There is so much greatness in store for Jerry Ross Elementary!
Enjoy the long weekend,
Mrs. Reeder, Assistant Principal
