Ocean Acidification

Ocean Acidification is the ongoing decrease in the pH of the earths oceans, caused by the uptake of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Every day, 22 million tons of carbon dioxide from factories, cars, power plants and other human sources are observed by the worlds oceans.

A Frightning Phenomenon

The video below explains how carbon dioxide is making the seawater more acidic, spelling disaster for many marine animals, from plankton and coral up the food chain to sea stars, salmon, sea otters, wales, different kinds of fish and ultimately people who rely on oceans for food.
